HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Please refer to your PC documentation in order to correctly identify a Bus
Mastering PCI slot and the “5V Standby” connector for Wake On Lan
functionality. Also see the Setup/Bios documentation regarding PCI slots
and their settings.
To install the PCI Card 10/100, power off your PC and remove the chassis
cover. Next, select an unused PCI expansion bus slot and remove its
protective bracket. Carefully insert the card and press until all the edge
connectors are firmly seated inside the slot. Screw the card’s bracket
securely into the PC’s chassis and replace the cover.
If you are going to use the Wake On Lan capability, attach one end of the
3-pin Wake-on-LAN cable to the connector on the top edge of the card,
and the other end to the “5V Standby”
connector on the computers
motherboard.
Connect the PCI Card 10/100 to a
10Base-T or 100Base-TX hub or
switch using RJ45-RJ45 UTP cables
(Category 3, 4 or 5 for 10BASE-T;
Category 5 for 100BASE-TX).
The maximum allowable length of
10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX cable
connections is 100 meters (328 ft.).
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
The PCI Card 10/100 should
be automatically configured by
the PCI computers BIOS
setup program.
However, if you have an
older PCI computer, you
may have to change the
computer’s BIOS settings
to accomplish this.
Please refer to section
“Setup and Diagnostics”.
