Important Safety Instructions

1. Read these instructions.

2. Keep these instructions.

3. Heed all warnings.

4. Follow all instructions.

5. Do not use this apparatus near water.

6. Clean only with dry cloth.

7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in

accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

8. Do not install near any heat sources such as

radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other

apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized

or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two

blades with one wider than the other. A grounding

type plug has two blades and a third grounding

prong. The wide blade or the third prong are

provided for your safety. If the provided plug does

not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for

replacement of the obsolete outlet.

10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or

pinched particularly at plugs, convenience

receptacles, and the point where they exit from

the apparatus.

11. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the

manufacturer.

12. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or

table specified by the manufacturer,

or sold with the apparatus. When a

cart is used, use caution when

moving the cart/apparatus

combination to avoid injury from

tip-over.

13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or

when unused for long periods of time.

14. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Servicing is required when the apparatus has been

damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord

or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or

objects have fallen into the apparatus, the

apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture,

does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

15. Do not expose this apparatus to dripping or

splashing and ensure that no objects filled with

liquids, such as vases, are placed on the

apparatus.

16. To completely disconnect this apparatus from the

AC Mains, disconnect the power supply cord plug

from the AC receptacle.

17. The mains plug of the power supply cord shall

remain readily operable.

18. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat such as

sunshine, fire or the like.

The lightning flash with arrowhead

symbol within an equilateral triangle, is

intended to alert the user to the

presence of uninsulated “dangerous

voltage” within the product's enclosure

that may be of sufficient magnitude to

constitute a risk of electric shock to

persons.

The exclamation point within an

equilateral triangle is intended to alert

the user to the presence of important

operating and maintenance (servicing)

instructions in the literature

accompanying the product.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric

shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or

moisture.

19. When replacement parts are required, be sure the

service technician has used replacement parts

specified by the manufacturer or have the same

characteristics as the original part. Unauthorised

substitutions may result in fire, electric shock or

other hazards.

20. Check that there are no cables under the carpet

that may be damaged by the spike feet. Do not

walk the product on the spike feet as this may

cause them to become detached from the cabinet

and cause damage. Take care not to impale

yourself with the spike feet.

21. For continued protection against fire hazard, use

fuses only of the correct type and rating. Mains

fuses are located inside the appliance as well as

on its back panel. Replacement of the internal

fuse should be entrusted to an authorised

operative. User-replaceable fuse types are shown

in the specification.

22. Isolation of the appliance from the power supply is

by means of removal of the power cord from the

rear of the appliance or removal of the power cord

from the wall power outlet. Either the wall outlet or

the rear of the appliance must remain freely

accessible at all times while the apparatus is in

use.

23. This product should be operated only from the

type of power source indicated by the marking

adjacent to the power cord entry. If you are not

sure of the type of power supply to your home,

consult your product dealer or local power

company.

24. Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords or

integral convenience receptacles, as this can

result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

25. Magnetic fields – The product creates a stray

static magnetic field. Do not place any object that

may be damaged by this magnetic field (eg

cathode ray tube televisions or computer

monitors, audio and video tapes and swipe cards)

within 0.5m (2 feet) of the appliance. The

appliance may cause distortion of cathode ray

tube images beyond this distance. LCD and

Plasma screens are not affected.

26. Mounting – Do not place this product on an

unstable stand, tripod, bracket or table. The

product may fall causing serious injury and serious

damage. Any mounting of the product should

follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Do not expose the device to rain, use it near water or

in damp or wet conditions, or place containers on it

containing liquids which might spill into any openings.

When setting up the device, make sure that the AC

outlet you are using is easily accessible. If some

trouble or malfunction occurs, immediately turn off the

power switch and disconnect the plug from the outlet.

Even when the power switch is turned off, electricity is

still flowing to the product at the minimum level. When

you are not using the device for a long time, make

sure to unplug the power cord from the wall AC outlet.

Environmental Information

disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment

This manual covers the CT SW10 and CT SW12

subwoofers and their matching SA1000 remote control

rack mount power amplifier.

Introduction

Dear customer,

Thank you for purchasing a Bowers and Wilkins

Custom Theatre system.

Since its foundation in 1966, the continuing

philosophy of B&W has been the quest for perfect

sound reproduction. Inspired by the company’s

founder, the late John Bowers, this quest has entailed

not only high investment in audio technology and

innovation but also an abiding appreciation of music

and movies to ensure that the technology is put to

maximum effect.

Custom Theatre speakers are specifically designed to

be built into the fabric of the listening room or into

custom furniture as part of a fully designed theatre

concept. To that end, they incorporate several features

that enable them to be adapted to a wide range of

installation conditions and deliver superb sound

quality. However, they specifically do not incorporate

features found on some other B&W products that are

not appropriate to this type of installation. An example

of such a feature would be tweeter on top, which only

operates well with a free-standing speaker.

Furthermore, because of the normal custom install

practice of hiding built-in speakers with acoustically

transparent cloth that matches the décor, all the

models except one are supplied without grilles. The

exception is the CT8 DS surround speaker, which

needs to protrude into the room in order for the side-

firing drivers to operate properly.

No matter how good the speakers themselves may

be, they will not deliver their full potential unless

properly installed. Please read through this manual

fully. It will help you optimise the performance of the

system.

B&W distributes to over 60 countries worldwide and

maintains a network of dedicated distributors who will

be able to help should you have any problems your

dealer cannot resolve.

Although the speakers are semi-active and require an

active crossover, all power amplification must be

separately sourced. Each CT8 LR, CT8 CC and CT8

DS requires two channels of power amplification, or

three if used with a CT8 SW subwoofer. This allows

the user maximum flexibility in choosing these

components.

The CT8 SW subwoofer, unlike the majority of

subwoofers currently available, does not contain its

own power amplifier and is used in a different manner

than is usual. The original concept of home theatre

based on various Dolby Digital and DTS systems

advocates five or more main channels plus a single

Low Frequency Effects (LFE) channel. The main

channels contain full range signals and the LFE

channel contains special effects up to approximately

140Hz. Recognising that many people do not want

five or more full-range speakers in one room, Dolby

Digital and DTS systems allow for the main channels

to operate with small speakers having a restricted

bass extension. The lowest frequencies from these

channels are filtered off and added to the LFE channel

to be reproduced by a subwoofer. The filter cut-off

frequency is normally set at around 80Hz, the rationale

being that sound gets progressively less directional the

lower the frequency and localisation becomes less

important. This is true to some extent, but the ears

can process directional information at very low

frequencies and the more the bass of the main

channels is extended, the more realistic the sound

stage becomes. Many high-end processors offer lower

filter cut-off frequencies for this very reason.

To preserve this directional information, a CT8 SW

may be added to each of the main channels as

desired, extending the frequency response well below

20Hz. The minimum recommended configuration is to

assign one subwoofer to each of the front left and

right channels, restoring some directional information

to the action directly on the screen and full directional

information to 2-channel audio programme. The sense

of spatial acoustic improves as more subwoofers are

added to the remaining channels. If higher sound

levels are required for larger listening environments

and greater realism, up to two subwoofers may be

added to each main channel. (It should be noted here

that the addition of more subwoofers to any single

channel requires an adjustment of the subwoofer

output level of that channel’s CT8 XO in order to

restore the correct tonal balance.) The LFE channel is

then distributed to all the main channels that have a

subwoofer assigned by the simple action of

configuring the surround processor as if there were no

subwoofer present and specifying where the LFE

signal should be routed. Strictly speaking, the phrase

"no subwoofer" here means "no subwoofer dedicated

to the LFE channel".

Safety Warning!

A CT800 system is capable of producing

very high sound pressure levels.

Prolonged exposure to high sound levels

can lead first to temporary and later

permanent hearing damage. Do not exceed

recommended Leq (equivalent sound level) exposure

levels, for example, those specified in ISO 1999:1990.

Running In and Ancillary Equipment

Ancillary Equipment

Speakers of this ability deserve signals of the highest

quality. Choose your electronic equipment and

interconnecting cables with care. We can give

guidance on what to look for when choosing ancillary

equipment, but cannot recommend specific items. The

standards of such products are improving all the time

and your dealer will be able to demonstrate a variety

of suitable up-to-date products.

In the specification we recommend a range of amplifier

powers. The higher figure is defined by the power

handling capability of the speaker. When calculating

the power handling, it is assumed that the amplifier is

not run into clipping, which distorts the frequency

power spectrum of the signal, and that the signal is

normal programme material. Test tones from

oscillators and the like are not applicable. The lower

figure is the minimum we consider necessary to

achieve reasonable listening levels without audible

distortion in the smaller room (less than 60 m3or

2000 cu ft). The higher the power you use, the less

likely you are to experience amplifier clipping.

You can often tell how good an amplifier is at driving

complex speaker loads by looking at its power rating

into both 4Ωand 8Ωloads. The nearer the ratio is to

2:1 the better, as it indicates a good current capability.

In order to reduce the effect the cable has on the

frequency response of the speaker to inaudible levels,

the impedance of the cable at all frequencies

(measuring both positive and negative conductors in

series) should be kept as low as possible and certainly

below 0.1Ω. At low frequencies, the DC resistance of

the cable is the dominant factor and you should

choose a gauge of wire sufficient to achieve the

impedance requirements over the length of cable you

need to use. At mid and high frequencies the inductive

component of the impedance can dominate the DC

resistance. This and other properties influenced by the

detailed construction of the cable become important.

Running In

The performance of the speakers will change subtly

during the initial listening period. If they have been

stored in a cold environment, the damping compounds

and suspension materials will take some time to

recover their correct mechanical properties. The drive

unit suspensions will also loosen up during the first

hours of use. The time taken for the speakers to

achieve their intended performance will vary

depending on previous storage conditions and how

they are used. As a guide, allow up to a week for the

temperature effects to stabilise and 15 hours of

average use for the mechanical parts to attain their

intended design characteristics.

However, longer run-in periods (as long as a month)

have been reported and there is evidence to suggest

that this has little to do with the speaker changing and

more to do with the listener getting used to a new

sound. It is especially so with highly revealing

speakers such as these, where there may be a

significant increase in the amount of detail portrayed

compared to what the listener has previously been

used to; the sound may at first appear too "up front"

and perhaps a little hard. After an extended period of

time, the sound will seem to mellow, but without losing

clarity and detail.

Aftercare

The speaker cabinet surfaces and the casing of the

CT8 XO usually only require dusting. If you wish to use

an aerosol cleaner, remove any speaker grilles first by

gripping round the edges and gently pulling them

away from the cabinet. Spray onto the cleaning cloth,

not directly onto the cabinet. The grille fabric may be

cleaned with a normal clothes brush whilst the grille is

detached from the cabinet.

When replacing grilles, ensure that the pegs are

correctly aligned with the receptacles in the cabinet

before pushing into place.

Avoid touching the drive unit diaphragms, especially

the tweeter, as damage may result.

Limited Warranty

This product has been designed and manufactured to

the highest quality standards. However, if something

does go wrong with this product, B&W Group Ltd. and

its national distributors warrant free of charge labour

(exclusion may apply) and replacement parts in any

country served by an official B&W distributor.

This limited warranty is valid for a period of five years

from the date of purchase or two years for electronics

including amplified loudspeakers.

Terms and Conditions

1 The warranty is limited to the repair of the

equipment. Neither transportation, nor any other

costs, nor any risk for removal, transportation and

installation of products is covered by this warranty.

2 This warranty is only valid for the original owner. It

is not transferable.

3 This warranty will not be applicable in cases other

than defects in materials and/or workmanship at

the time of purchase and will not be applicable:

a. for damages caused by incorrect installation,

connection or packing,

b. for damages caused by any use other than correct

use described in the user manual, negligence,

modifications, or use of parts that are not made or

authorised by B&W,

c. for damages caused by faulty or unsuitable

ancillary equipment,

d. for damages caused by accidents, lightning,

water, fire heat, war, public disturbances or any

other cause beyond the reasonable control of

B&W and its appointed distributors,

e. for products whose serial number has been

altered, deleted, removed or made illegible,

f. if repairs or modifications have been executed by

an unauthorised person.

4 This guarantee complements any national/regional

law obligations of dealers or national distributors

and does not affect your statutory rights as a

customer.

How to claim repairs under warranty

Should service be required, please follow the following

procedure:

1 If the equipment is being used in the country of

purchase, you should contact the B&W authorised

dealer from whom the equipment was purchased.

2 If the equipment is being used outside the country

of purchase, you should contact the B&W national

distributor in the country of residence, who will

advise where the equipment can be serviced. You

can call B&W in the UK or visit our web site to get

the contact details of your local distributor.

To validate your warranty, you will need to produce the

warranty booklet completed and stamped by your

dealer on the date of purchase. Alternatively, you will

need the original sales invoice or other proof of

ownership and date of purchase.

Un contrôle impératif est nécessaire si l’appareil a

l’intérieur, s’il a été exposé à la pluie ou à

15. Ne pas exposer cet appareil aux éclaboussures de

19. Si le remplacement de certaines pièces est

nécessaire, assurez-vous que le service technique

en charge de la réparation a bien utilisé des

pièces identiques à celles d’origine, ou bien

possédant rigoureusement les mêmes

caractéristiques. L’utilisation de pièces non

conformes entraîne des risques d’incendie,

électrisation ou autres blessures graves.

20. Vérifiez qu’il n’y ait aucun câble sous tapis ou

moquette qui risque d’être transpercé par une des

pointes de découplage. Ne déplacez pas l’appareil

sur ses pointes de découplage : vous risquez de

les casser et de gravement détériorer le

revêtement de sol, ou de les détacher du coffret

avec de graves risques de blessure. Prenez garde

de ne pas vous ouvrir vous-même une main ou

une autre partie du corps sur une de ces pointes !

21. Pour une bonne protection continue contre les

risques d’incendie, n’utilisez des fusibles de

remplacement que de la même valeur – tension et

ampérage – de ceux que vous remplacez. Les

fusibles de protection générale peuvent être situés

aussi bien derrière qu’à l’intérieur de l’appareil. Le

remplacement des fusibles internes ne peut être

effectué que par un technicien qualifié. Les valeurs

correctes des fusibles de remplacement sont

indiquées dans les spécifications de chaque

appareil.

22. L’isolation totale de l’appareil vis-à-vis des risques

d’électrisation se fait par le débranchement pur et

simple de son câble d’alimentation secteur. C’est

pourquoi tant l’arrière de l’appareil que sa prise

d’alimentation murale doivent présenter un accès

libre en permanence, tant que l’appareil est utilisé.

23. Cet appareil ne doit fonctionner que sur un réseau

électrique conforme aux caractéristiques

clairement indiquées à côté de la prise secteur, en

face arrière. Si vous n’êtes pas sûr des

caractéristiques électriques de votre propre

installation domestique, consultez votre revendeur

ou un électricien qualifié.

24. Ne surchargez jamais une prise murale en tentant

d’y brancher plus d’appareils (via des cordons

prolongateurs et prises multiples) que sa

puissance ne peut en supporter. Les risques

d’incendie ou d’électrocution sont importants !

25. Champs magnétiques – L’appareil peut

éventuellement générer un champ magnétique et

de l’électricité statique. Ne le placez donc pas à

plus de 50 centimètres d’un appareil pouvant être

abîmé par ce champ magnétique (tube cathodique

de téléviseur, cassettes audio ou vidéo, cartes

magnétiques, etc.). Un écran peut présenter des

distorsions colorées. Les écrans de type LCD ou

plasma ne sont pas affectés par ce phénomène.

26. Installation – Ne placez pas cet appareil sur un

pied, tripode, meuble instable, etc. Il pourrait

tomber, pouvant causer ainsi des blessures graves

à un adulte comme à un enfant, et être

irrémédiablement lui-même détérioré. N’utilisez

des modes de surélévation expressément

éventuellement recommandés par le constructeur.

Ne pas exposer l'appareil à la pluie, ne pas l'utiliser

près d'une source d'eau ou dans des atmosphères

humides ou avec la présence de condensation ; ne

pas l'installer près de récipients contenant des liquides

susceptibles de s'ouvrir ou d'être renversés.

Lors de l'installation de l'appareil, assurez-vous que sa

prise d'alimentation secteur soit toujours facilement

accessible. Si le moindre problème survient, éteignez

immédiatement l'appareil via son interrupteur principal,

puis débranchez-le de son alimentation secteur. Même

si l'interrupteur général est coupé, du courant peut

encore circuler dans l'appareil. Lorsque vous ne

l'utilisez pas pendant une longue période, assurez-

vous que son alimentation secteur est bien

débranchée de la prise murale.

Information sur la protection de

l’environnement

Les produits B&W sont conçus en

conformité totale avec les nouvelles

normes internationales concernant

spécifiant ainsi vers quels canaux le signal LFE doit

être réellement envoyé. En effet, l’indication « pas de

caisson de grave » dans ces paramètres signifie en

réalité « pas de caisson de grave réservé à la

reproduction exclusive du canal LFE ».

Avertissement de sécurité

Un système CT800 est capable de

produire des niveaux de pression sonore

extrêmement élevés. Une exposition

prolongée à de telles pressions

acoustiques peut entraîner des dommages

temporaires ou permanents, allant jusqu’à la surdité

totale. Ne dépassez pas les niveaux d’exposition

sonore recommandés, tels ceux spécifiés par la norme

Équipement complémentaire

Ces enceintes acoustiques sont capables de délivrer

des signaux sonores de très haute qualité. Choisissez

l’électronique et les câbles associés avec soin. Nous

pouvons ici vous donner quelques conseils dans le

choix de ces appareils, sans pour autant citer de

marques ou modèles spécifiques. Les standards de

qualité de tels maillons sont en constante amélioration,

et votre revendeur sera en mesure de vous faire

écouter plusieurs choix parmi les plus

recommandables et les plus modernes.

Dans les spécifications, nous recommandons une

puissance d’amplification selon une gamme variable.

La valeur la plus élevée correspond à la tenue en

puissance maximum de l’enceinte. Lorsque nous

calculons cette tenue en puissance, cela sous-entend

que l’amplificateur délivre cette puissance avant

écrêtage – qui entraîne une forte distorsion du signal

audio lui-même, et que ce signal concerne un

programme audio normal. Des signaux tests créés par

des générateurs ne s’appliquent pas ici. La valeur la

plus faible correspond, elle, à celle que nous

considérons nécessaire pour obtenir un volume sonore

raisonnable, sans distorsion audible, dans une pièce

de dimensions raisonnables (inférieures à 60 m3). Plus

la puissance des amplificateurs sera élevée, moins

vous risquerez de les utiliser à la limite de leur

écrêtage.

Vous pouvez souvent juger de la qualité d’un

amplificateur à alimenter des enceintes acoustiques

présentant une charge complexe en regardant quelle

puissance est indiquée pour des charges différentes de

4 Ωet 8 Ω. Plus les résultats s’approchent du ratio 2:1

(le double de puissance sur 4 Ω), plus l’amplificateur

présente de bonnes capacités en courant.

Afin de réduire les effets néfastes d’un câble de liaison

sur la réponse en fréquence d’une enceinte, jusqu’à

des niveaux inaudibles, l’impédance du câble à toutes

les fréquences (en mesurant en même temps, en

série, les conducteurs positifs et négatifs), doit être la

plus faible possible, et dans tous les cas inférieure à

0,1 Ω. Aux fréquences graves, la résistance du câble

en courant continu représente le principal facteur, et

vous devez choisir un diamètre de câble suffisant pour

garantir une valeur d’impédance correcte, en fonction

de la longueur de câble que vous utilisez. Dans les

fréquences médium et aiguës, la composante

inductive de l’impédance peut prendre l’ascendant sur

la résistance en courant continu. C’est là et dans

d’autres domaines que la structure même du câble

devient importante.

Période de rodage

Les performances d’une enceinte acoustique se

modifient subtilement pendant une période de rodage

initiale. Si l’enceinte a été stockée dans un

environnement de faible température, ses composants

amortissants et les suspensions des haut-parleurs

vont demander un peu de temps avant de retrouver

leurs qualités mécaniques optimales. De plus, ces

suspensions vont également se « libérer » pendant les

premières heures d’utilisation. Ce temps de rodage est

variable, suivant la température de stockage et la

manière dont vous utilisez les enceintes. En moyenne,

comptez un week-end pour que les effets de la

température se stabilisent, et une quinzaine d’heures

d’utilisation normale pour que tous les composants

mécaniques atteignent le fonctionnement parfait

correspondant à leur conception mécanique.

Cependant, des périodes plus longues (jusqu’à un

mois) ont été relevées, mais il semble que cela soit dû

un peu à cause du rodage des enceintes, et beaucoup

parce que l’auditeur doit se familiariser avec le

nouveau son ! C’est particulièrement le cas ici, avec

des enceintes extrêmement définies, capables de

reproduire un niveau de détail exceptionnellement

élevé, plus que ce à quoi s’attendait l’auditeur ;

simplement, au début, ce son peut sembler un tout

petit peu « projeté » en avant et brillant. À la fin de la

période de rodage, le son semblera plus neutre, sans

ne rien perdre pour autant de ses qualités en terme de

transparence et de sens du détail.

Entretien

Le coffret des enceintes et du CT8 XO ne nécessite

qu’un dépoussiérage avec un chiffon sec et doux. Si

vous désirez utiliser un nettoyant en aérosol, retirez

tout d’abord les grilles frontales des enceintes. Ne

dirigez pas le jet de ce dernier directement sur le

caisson de grave : imbibez uniquement le chiffon. Le

cache frontal peut être nettoyé en utilisant une brosse

très douce, après l’avoir retiré de l’enceinte.

Lorsque vous remettez en place les grilles frontales,

assurez-vous que les tétons de maintien sont

correctement alignés avec les réceptacles du corps de

l’enceinte avant de pousser pour les remettre en

place.

Évitez de toucher directement les membranes des

haut-parleurs, et spécialement le dôme des tweeters,

sous peine de les endommager irrémédiablement.

Garantie limitée

Ce produit a été conçu et fabriqué en vertu des

normes de qualité les plus rigoureuses. Toutefois, en

cas de problème, B&W Group Ltd. et ses distributeurs

nationaux garantissent une main d’œuvre (exclusions

possibles) et des pièces de rechange gratuites dans

tout pays desservi par un distributeur agréé de B&W.

Cette garantie limitée est valide pour une période de

cinq ans à compter de la date d’achat ou une période

de deux ans pour les composants électroniques, y

compris les haut-parleurs amplifiés.

12. Verwenden Sie nur Rollwagen, Ständer, Stative,

Halterungen oder Tische, die vom

Hersteller empfohlen oder die mit

dem Gerät verkauft werden. Wird

das Gerät auf einem Wagen trans-

portiert, so ist Vorsicht geboten.

Durch plötzliches Anhalten, übermäßige Gewaltan-

wendung und unebenen Boden kann der Wagen

samt Gerät umkippen.

13. Ziehen Sie bei Gewitter oder bei längeren Phasen

der Nichtbenutzung den Netzstecker aus der

Steckdose.

14. Schalten Sie das Gerät sofort aus und ziehen Sie

geschultes Fachpersonal zu Rate, wenn das Netz-

kabel oder der Stecker beschädigt sind, Gegen-

stände bzw. Flüssigkeit in das Gerät gelangt sind,

das Gerät Regen oder Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzt

war, das Gerät nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert

bzw. eine deutliche Leistungsminderung aufweist

oder wenn das Gerät hingefallen ist bzw. beschä-

digt wurde.

15. In das Gerät dürfen keine Spritzer gelangen. Stel-

len Sie keine mit Flüssigkeit gefüllten Gegenstän-

de, wie z. B. Vasen, auf das Gerät.

16. Ziehen Sie zur vollständigen Trennung vom Netz

das Netzkabel aus der Steckdose.

17. Der Netzstecker des Netzteils darf nicht beschä-

digt sein.

18. Setzen Sie Batterien niemals extremer Hitze (z. B.

Sonnenlicht, Feuer oder Ähnlichem) aus.

Das Blitzsymbol mit Pfeil in einem

gleichseitigen Dreieck macht den

Benutzer auf das Vorhandensein

„gefährlicher Spannung" im Gehäuse

aufmerksam. Diese ist so groß, dass sie

für eine Gefährdung von Personen durch

einen elektrischen Schlag ausreicht.

Das Ausrufungszeichen in einem

gleichseitigen Dreieck weist den Leser

auf wichtige Betriebs- und Servicehin-

weise in der dem Gerät beiliegenden

Literatur hin.

WARNUNG: Um die Gefahr von Feuer oder eines

elektrischen Schlages zu reduzieren, das Gerät

niemals Regen oder Feuchtigkeit aussetzen.

19. Werden Ersatzteile benötigt, so vergewissern Sie

sich, dass der Servicetechniker die vom Hersteller

empfohlenen Ersatzteile verwendet oder solche,

die dieselben Technischen Daten aufweisen wie

das Originalteil. Nicht zugelassene Ersatzteile

können zu Feuer, einem elektrischen Schlag oder

sonstigen Gefahren führen.

20. Stellen Sie sicher, dass unter dem Teppich keine

Kabel liegen, die durch die Spikes beschädigt

werden können. Schieben Sie das Gerät nicht auf

seinen Spikes, da dies zu Beschädigungen führen

kann. Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie sich nicht an

den Spikes verletzen.

21. Um eine Brandgefahr auszuschließen, sind nur

Sicherungen des vom Hersteller genannten Typs

mit den vom Hersteller angegebenen Nenndaten

zu verwenden. Die Hauptsicherungen befinden

sich sowohl im Gehäuse als auch an der Rücksei-

te des Gehäuses. Der Austausch der internen

Sicherung sollte nur von einem Fachmann durch-

geführt werden. Vom Benutzer auswechselbare

Sicherungstypen sind in den Technischen Daten

angegeben.

22. Möchten Sie das Gerät vom Netz trennen, so

ziehen Sie den Netzstecker oder trennen das

Kabel vom Netzeingang. Während des Betriebes

muss entweder die Steckdose oder der Netzein-

gang an der Geräterückseite frei zugänglich sein.

23. Das Gerät ist nur an die auf der Geräterückseite

angegebenen Stromquellen anzuschließen. Sollten

Sie sich diesbezüglich nicht sicher sein, fragen Sie

Ihren autorisierten Fachhändler oder wenden sich

an die örtliche Stromgesellschaft.

24. Vermeiden Sie eine Überlastung der Wandsteck-

dosen, Verlängerungskabel usw., um Feuer oder

einem elektrischen Schlag vorzubeugen.

25. Magnetische Streufelder – Das Gerät erzeugt ein

magnetisches Streufeld, das über die Gehäuse-

grenzen hinaus reicht. Daher empfehlen wir, einen

Mindestabstand von 0,5 m zwischen magnetisch

empfindlichen Artikeln (CRT-Fernsehgeräten, Com-

puterbildschirmen, Discs, Audio- und Videobän-

dern, Scheckkarten usw.) und Lautsprecher zu

bewahren. Magnetische Streufelder haben keinen

Einfluss auf LCD- und Plasma-Bildschirme.

26. Montage – Das Gerät darf nicht auf einen instabi-

len Ständer oder einen Tisch gestellt oder an einer

Halterung angebracht werden, da es beim Herun-

terfallen zu erheblichen Verletzungen und Beschä-

digungen kommen kann. Eine Montage darf nur

den Herstellerhinweisen entsprechend erfolgen.

Setzen Sie das Gerät niemals Regen aus. Verwenden

Sie es nicht in der Nähe von Wasser oder in feuchten

Umgebungen. Stellen Sie auf keinen Fall mit Flüssig-

keit gefüllte Behälter auf das Gerät.

Stellen Sie beim Setup sicher, dass die genutzte Netz-

steckdose frei zugänglich ist. Treten Störungen auf, so

schalten Sie das Gerät aus und ziehen den Netzste-

cker, da selbst bei abgeschaltetem Gerät noch geringe

Strommengen fließen. Wird das Gerät längere Zeit

nicht benutzt, so ziehen Sie ebenfalls den Netzstecker.

Umweltinformation

B&W-Produkte entsprechen den interna-

tionalen Richtlinien über die Beschrän-

kung der Verwendung bestimmter

Einleitung

Sehr geehrte Kundin, sehr geehrter Kunde,

vielen Dank, dass Sie sich für das Custom Theatre-

System von Bowers & Wilkins entschieden haben.

Seit der Gründung 1966 war B&Ws oberstes Anliegen

die perfekte Klangwiedergabe. Inspiriert durch den

Firmengründer, den verstorbenen John Bowers, wird

diesem Streben nicht nur durch hohe Investitionen in

die Audiotechnologie und stetige Investitionen Rech-

nung getragen, sondern auch durch die Liebe zur

Musik und zu Filmen, um sicherzustellen, dass die

Technologie optimal eingesetzt wird.

Die Custom Theatre-Lautsprecher sind so konzipiert,

dass sie sich unauffällig in den Raum integrieren oder,

als Teil eines vollständig durchdachten Kinokonzepts,

in spezielles Mobiliar einbauen lassen. Aus diesem

Grund verfügen sie über eine Reihe von Features, die

es ihnen ermöglichen, unter den verschiedensten Be-

dingungen eine erstklassige Klangqualität zu gewähr-

leisten. Jedoch gibt es einige Features anderer B&W-

Modelle, deren Einsatz bei diesen Lautsprechern

keinen Sinn macht. Dazu gehört beispielsweise der

Tweeter on Top, der nur bei freistehenden Lautspre-

chern gut funktioniert. Da es bei Custom Theatre-

Lautsprechern zur normalen Praxis gehört, diese mit

einem akustisch transparenten Stoff optimal an die

Umgebung anzupassen, werden alle Modelle ohne

Abdeckung geliefert. Die einzige Ausnahme bildet der

Surroundlautsprecher CT8 DS, der im Raum zu sehen

ist, damit die seitlich sitzenden Chassis optimal

funktionieren können.

Auch wenn die Lautsprecher selber noch so gut sind,

so können sie ihr volles Potenzial nur entfalten, wenn

sie ordnungsgemäß installiert werden. Bitte lesen Sie

sich diese Bedienungsanleitung vor dem Auspacken

und der Installation des Produktes genau durch. Dies

wird Ihnen bei der optimalen Nutzung des Systems

helfen.

B&W liefert in über 60 Länder und verfügt über ein

weites Netz erfahrener Distributoren, die Ihnen

weiterhelfen, auch wenn der Händler Ihr Problem nicht

lösen kann.

Obwohl die Lautsprecher halbaktiv sind und eine

aktive Frequenzweiche erforderlich machen, muss die

gesamte Verstärkerleistung separat zur Verfügung

gestellt werden. Jeder CT8 LR-, CT8 CC- und CT8

DS-Lautsprecher benötigt eine 2-Kanal-Verstärkung

bzw. eine 3-Kanal-Verstärkung, wenn ein CT8 SW-

Subwoofer angeschlossen wird. Dies bietet dem

Benutzer ein Höchstmaß an Flexibilität bei der Aus-

wahl dieser Komponenten.

Der CT8 SW-Subwoofer besitzt im Gegensatz zu den

meisten anderen, heute erhältlichen Subwoofern keine

eigene Endstufe und wird anders als normalerweise

üblich eingesetzt. Heimkinos, die auf verschiedenen

Dolby Digital- und DTS-Systemen basieren, verfügen

über fünf oder mehr Hauptkanäle sowie über einen

einzigen Low Frequency Effects (LFE)-Kanal. Über die

Hauptkanäle werden die Vollbereichssignale und über

den LFE-Kanal die Spezialeffekte bis ca. 140 Hz

wiedergegeben. Da viele Kunden nicht fünf oder gar

mehr Vollbereichslautsprecher in einem Raum haben

möchten, ist es bei den Dolby Digital- und DTS-

Systemen möglich, für die Hauptkanäle auch kleine

Lautsprecher mit einer begrenzten Basswiedergabe

einzusetzen. Die tiefsten Frequenzen dieser Kanäle

werden herausgefiltert und zum LFE-Kanal geleitet. Die

Signale des LFE-Kanals werden von einem Subwoofer

reproduziert, dessen Einsatzfrequenz normalerweise

auf 80 Hz eingestellt wird. Dies basiert auf der

Erkenntnis, dass die Richtwirkung bei tiefen Frequen-

zen geringer und der Standort somit weniger wichtig

wird. Grundsätzlich ist das richtig, jedoch kann das

menschliche Gehör gerichtete Signale bei sehr tiefen

Frequenzen verarbeiten und je mehr der Bass der

Hauptkanäle erweitert wird, desto realistischer wird

der Klang. Aus diesem Grund bieten viele High-End-

Prozessoren die Möglichkeit, geringere Einsatzfre-

quenzen für den Subwoofer einzustellen.

Um diese Richtwirkung zu erhalten, ist es sinnvoll,

gegebenenfalls für jeden der Hauptkanäle zusätzlich

einen CT8 SW einzusetzen, so dass der Frequenzgang

bis unter 20 Hz erweitert werden kann. Bei der emp-

fohlenen Minimalkonfiguration wird dem linken und

rechten Frontkanal jeweils ein Subwoofer zugeordnet,

wodurch die Richtwirkung bei Filmeffekten bis zu

einem gewissen Grad und bei 2-Kanal-Audioprogram-

men komplett hergestellt wird. Die räumliche Abbil-

dung wird mit jedem Subwoofer, der einem der ande-

ren Kanäle zugeordnet wird, verbessert. Sind in größe-

ren Hörumgebungen und für eine größere Realitäts-

nähe höhere Lautstärkepegel erforderlich, können pro

Hauptkanal bis zu zwei Subwoofer angeschlossen wer-

den. (Werden einem einzigen Kanal weitere Subwoofer

hinzugefügt, so beachten Sie, dass am CT8 XO auf-

grund der größeren Subwooferanzahl für diesen Kanal

eine Pegelanpassung vorgenommen werden muss, um

wieder die richtige Klangbalance herzustellen.) Die

Signale des LFE-Kanals werden dann zu allen Haupt-

kanälen geleitet, denen ein Subwoofer zugeordnet ist.

Konfigurieren Sie den Surround-Prozessor einfach so,

als ob kein Subwoofer vorhanden wäre und spezifi-

zieren Sie, wohin das LFE-Signal gesendet werden

soll. „Kein Subwoofer" bedeutet hier also, dass „dem

LFE-Kanal kein Subwoofer zugeordnet ist".

Warnung!

Ein CT-System kann sehr hohe Lautstär-

kepegel erzeugen. Setzen Sie sich über

einen längeren Zeitraum diesen hohen

Pegeln aus, so kann dies zu vorüberge-

henden oder permanenten Hörschäden führen. Über-

schreiten Sie nicht die empfohlenen Richtwerte (wie

beispielsweise in ISO 1999:1990 spezifiziert).

Zusatzgeräte und Einlaufphase

Zusatzgeräte

Lautsprecher mit diesem Potenzial erzeugen Signale

höchster Klangqualität. Wählen Sie daher die Elektro-

nik und die Verbindungskabel sorgfältig aus. Wir

können Ihnen zwar Ratschläge geben, worauf Sie

dabei achten sollten, aber wir können keine speziellen

Geräte empfehlen. Die Standards solcher Produkte

werden immer höher. Ihr Fachhändler berät Sie gerne.

In den Technischen Daten geben wir einen Bereich für

die Verstärkerleistung an. Der höhere Wert wird durch

die Nennbelastbarkeit des Lautsprechers definiert. Bei

der Berechnung der Nennbelastbarkeit wird davon

ausgegangen, dass der Verstärker nicht bis zum

Clipping gebracht wird (das Frequenzspektrum des

Signals wird gestört) und dass es sich bei dem Signal

um normales Programmmaterial handelt. Testtöne von

Oszillatoren oder Ähnliches können nicht genutzt

werden. Der niedrigere Wert steht für das Minimum,

das erforderlich ist, um ausreichende Hörpegel ohne

hörbare Verzerrungen in einem kleineren Raum (unter

60 m3) zu erreichen. Je größer die vorhandene

Leistung, desto geringer ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit,

dass es zu einem Clipping des Verstärkers kommt.

Sie erkennen einen guten Verstärker an seiner Belast-

barkeit bei Anschluss an 4- und 8-Ohm-Lasten. Je

näher das Verhältnis an 2:1 ist, desto besser, da dies

für eine gute Stromlieferfähigkeit spricht.

Um den Effekt, den das Kabel auf den Frequenzgang

bis zu den nicht hörbaren Bereichen hat, zu reduzie-

ren, sollte die Impedanz des Kabels bei allen Frequen-

zen (positive und negative Leiter bei der Messung in

Reihe geschaltet) möglichst niedrig gehalten werden

(maximal empfohlene Kabelimpedanz 0,1 Ohm). Bei

niedrigen Frequenzen ist der Gleichstromwiderstand

des Kabels der dominante Faktor. Wählen Sie ein

Kabel mit einer genügend großen Dicke, um die

Impedanzanforderungen über der von Ihnen genutzten

Kabellänge zu erfüllen. Bei mittleren und hohen

gegenüber dem Gleichstromwiderstand dominieren.

Diese und weitere durch die spezifische Konstruktion

des Kabels beeinflussten Eigenschaften werden

wichtig.

Einlaufphase

In der Einlaufphase gibt es feine Unterschiede in der

Wiedergabequalität des Lautsprechers. Wurde er in

einer kühlen Umgebung gelagert, so wird es einige

Zeit dauern, bis die Dämpfungskomponenten und die

für die Aufhängung der Chassis eingesetzten Werk-

stoffe ihre optimalen mechanischen Eigenschaften

besitzen. Die Aufhängung der Chassis wird mit den

ersten Betriebsstunden beweglicher. Die Zeit, die der

Lautsprecher benötigt, um seine maximale Leistungs-

fähigkeit zu entwickeln, schwankt abhängig von den

vorherigen Lager- und Einsatzbedingungen. Grund-

sätzlich kann man sagen, dass es eine Woche dauert,

bis sich die Lautsprecher nach Temperatureinwir-

kungen stabilisiert haben. 15 Betriebsstunden sind

erforderlich, bis die mechanischen Teile ihre Funktion,

wie bei der Konstruktion festgelegt, erfüllen können.

Jedoch ist uns schon von längeren Einlaufphasen (bis

zu einem Monat) berichtet worden. Man kann aber

davon ausgehen, dass dieser Eindruck eher mit dem

Hörer zu tun hat, der aufgrund der hochwertigen

Klangqualität dieser Lautsprecher jetzt Details wahr-

nimmt, die vorher nicht zu hören waren. Der Klang

mag ihm zunächst vielleicht etwas hart erscheinen.

Aber nach geraumer Zeit wird er weicher, ohne dabei

an Detailtreue zu verlieren.

Pflege

Die Gehäuseoberfläche der Lautsprecher und das

Gehäuse der Steuereinheit CT8 XO müssen in der

Regel nur abgestaubt werden. Bei Verwendung eines

Aerosol-Reinigers sprühen Sie diesen zunächst auf ein

Tuch, niemals direkt auf das Gehäuse. Testen Sie ihn

erst an einer kleinen, unauffälligen Stelle, da einige

Reinigungsprodukte die Oberflächen beschädigen

können. Nutzen Sie für die Chassis keine Reinigungs-

mittel. Der Stoff der Abdeckung kann, nachdem diese

abgenommen worden ist, mit einer normalen Kleider-

bürste gereinigt werden.

Achten Sie auf die richtige Ausrichtung der Stifte,

bevor Sie die Abdeckung wieder anbringen.

Vermeiden Sie es, die Lautsprecherchassis zu

berühren, da dies, vor allem beim Hochtöner, zu

Beschädigungen führen kann.

Garantie

Dieses Produkt wurde nach den höchsten Qualitäts-

standards entwickelt und hergestellt. Sollte dennoch

der unwahrscheinliche Fall eintreten, dass Sie als

Kunde Grund zur Reklamation haben, werden die

B&W Group Ltd. und ihre nationalen Vertriebsorganisa-

tionen das fehlerhafte Produkt ohne Berechnung der

Arbeits- und Materialkosten (abgesehen von einigen

Ausnahmen) in jedem Land, in dem eine offizielle

beschränkt. Weder der Transport noch sonstige

Kosten, noch das Risiko des Ausbaus, des

von dieser Garantie abgedeckt.

2. Diese Garantie gilt nur für Fabrikations- und/oder

Materialfehler, die bereits zum Zeitpunkt des Kaufs

vorlagen und nicht:

a. bei Schäden durch unfachmännische Installation,

falsches Anschließen oder unsachgemäßes

Verpacken,

b. bei Schäden, die auf einen nicht in der Bedienungs-

anleitung genannten Einsatzzweck, auf Fahrlässigkeit,

Modifikationen oder die Verwendung von Teilen

zurückzuführen sind, die nicht von B&W hergestellt

bzw. zugelassen wurden,

c. bei Schäden durch defekte oder ungeeignete

Zusatzgeräte,

d. bei Schäden durch Unfälle, Blitzschlag, Wasser,

Feuer, Hitze, Krieg, öffentliche Unruhen oder

sonstige Ereignisse, die nicht der Kontrolle von B&W

und seinen Vertriebsorganisationen unterliegen,

e. für Produkte, deren Seriennummern geändert,

gelöscht, entfernt oder unleserlich gemacht

wurden,

f. wenn Reparaturen oder Modifikationen von einem

Nichtfachmann durchgeführt wurden.

3. Diese Garantie ergänzt die nationalen/regionalen

gesetzlichen Verpflichtungen der Händler bzw. der

nationalen Vertriebsorganisationen und schränkt in

keiner Weise die gesetzlichen Rechte, die Sie als

Kunde haben, ein.

fusibles de protección principales están situados

en el interior del aparato, así como en su panel

posterior. La sustitución del fusible interno debería

ser confiada a un técnico autorizado. Asimismo, el

tipo de fusible correspondiente a cada tensión de

alimentación se indica en el propio aparato.

22. El aislamiento del aparato de la red eléctrica se

lleva a cabo desconectando el cable de

alimentación del panel posterior de aquél o de la

toma de corriente eléctrica alterna. Tanto el panel

posterior del aparato como la toma de corriente

eléctrica deben estar fácilmente accesibles

durante el funcionamiento del producto.

23. Este producto debería ser utilizado únicamente

con el tipo de fuente de energía que se muestra

tipo de suministro eléctrico del que dispone en su

con banda magnética) a una distancia del aparato

igual o inferior a 0’5 metros. Más allá de esta

distancia, es posible que el aparato siga

provocando distorsiones en imágenes generadas

por tubos de rayos catódicos. Las pantallas de

plasma o LCD no son afectadas.

26. Montaje – No coloque este producto encima de

una carretilla, soporte, trípode, abrazadera o mesa

inestable. El aparato podría caer, provocando

serios daños a niños o adultos, así como al propio

aparato. Cualquier instalación del producto

debería seguir las instrucciones del fabricante y

utilizar un accesorio de montaje recomendado por

el fabricante.

No exponga el producto a la lluvia ni lo utilice cerca

del agua o en lugares con un elevado nivel de

humedad ambiental. Tampoco coloque encima del

mismo recipientes que contengan líquidos

susceptibles de penetrar en interior por cualquiera de

sus aberturas.

Cuando configure el aparato, asegúrese de que la

toma de corriente que vaya a utilizar con el mismo sea

fácilmente accesible. En caso de que aparezca un

problema o detecte un funcionamiento incorrecto,

desconecte de inmediato el aparato y haga lo propio

con la clavija del cable de alimentación. Incluso

cuando el interruptor de puesta en marcha esté en su

posición "Off", el aparato sigue recibiendo señal

Querido cliente:

Gracias por haber adquirido un sistema Custom

Theatre de Bowers & Wilkins.

Desde su fundación en 1966, la filosofía de B&W ha

sido siempre buscar la perfecta reproducción del

sonido. Inspirada por el fundador de la compañía, el

desaparecido John Bowers, esta búsqueda ha llevado

no sólo a realizar grandes inversiones en innovación y

tecnología aplicadas al campo del audio sino también

a una apreciación duradera de la música y el cine para

garantizar que el resultado de estos esfuerzos sea el

máximo posible.

Las cajas acústicas de la serie Custom Theatre han

sido específicamente diseñadas para ser montadas

detrás del revestimiento de tela de la sala de escucha

o en el interior de un recinto hecho a medida como

parte de un sistema de Cine en Casa completamente

personalizado. Para ello, incorporan varias funciones

que les permiten adaptarse a una extensa variedad de

condiciones de instalación proporcionando a la vez

una soberbia calidad sonora. Aún así, no incorporan

algunas características habituales en otros productos

de B&W por la simple razón de que no son

apropiadas para este tipo de instalaciones. Este sería

el caso, por ejemplo, de la ubicación de los tweeters

en la zona superior del recinto, una solución que sólo

funciona adecuadamente con cajas acústicas

ubicadas en campo libre. Además, al ser una práctica

habitual entre los instaladores de sistemas

personalizados ocultar las cajas acústicas con tela

acústicamente transparente que se adapte a la

decoración del entorno, todos los modelos –salvo

uno- de la gama Custom Theatre de B&W se

suministran de serie sin rejillas protectoras. La

excepción es la caja acústica de efectos CT8 DS, que

necesita sobresalir de la pared en la que está

instalada con el fin de permitir el correcto

funcionamiento a sus transductores de emisión lateral.

Independientemente de lo buenas que puedan ser las

cajas acústicas en sí mismas, nunca expresarán su

pleno potencial a menos que sean instaladas

adecuadamente. En consecuencia, le rogamos

encarecidamente que lea la totalidad del presente

manual por cuando le ayudará a optimizar las

Con el fin de reducir el efecto del cable en la

respuesta en frecuencia de la caja acústica a unos

niveles virtualmente inaudibles, la impedancia de dicho

cable a todas las frecuencias (midiendo los

conductores positivos y negativos conectados en

serie) debería mantenerse en el valor más bajo posible

y en cualquier caso por debajo de 0’1 ohmios. A

frecuencias bajas, la resistencia en continua del cable

es el factor dominante, por lo que debería escoger un

cable lo suficientemente grueso para satisfacer los

requerimientos anteriores a lo largo de la longitud que

necesite utilizar. A frecuencias medias y altas, es

posible que la componente inductiva de la impedancia

domine sobre la resistencia en continua. Esta y otras

propiedades determinadas por los detalles de la

construcción del cable pueden acabar teniendo una

gran relevancia.

Rodaje

Las prestaciones de las cajas acústicas cambiarán

sutilmente durante el período de escucha inicial. Si han

estado almacenadas en un ambiente frío, tanto los

materiales absorbentes y de amortiguamiento acústico

como los que forman parte de los sistemas de

suspensión de los altavoces que incorpora tardarán

cierto tiempo en recuperar sus propiedades mecánicas

correctas. Las suspensiones de los altavoces también

se relajarán durante las primeras horas de uso. El

intervalo de tiempo requerido por las cajas acústicas

para alcanzar las prestaciones para las que han sido

diseñadas variará en función de las condiciones de

almacenamiento previas y de cómo se utilicen. A modo

de guía, deje transcurrir una semana para la

estabilización térmica de cada modelo y unas 15 horas

de uso en condiciones normales para que las partes

mecánicas del mismo alcancen las características de

funcionamiento para las que han sido diseñadas.

No obstante, hay constancia de períodos de rodaje

más largos (del orden de un mes) y las evidencias

suficientes para sugerir que ello tiene poco que ver

con cambios en las cajas propiamente dichas y

bastante con la adaptación del usuario al nuevo

sonido proporcionado por las mismas. Esto resulta

bastante cierto en diseños con un elevado poder

resolutivo, como es el caso de los que componen la

gama CT800, hasta el punto de que puede producirse

un aumento significativo del nivel de detalle en

comparación con el que estaba acostumbrado a

percibir el usuario; en un primer momento, el sonido

puede aparecer excesivamente "adelantado" y quizá

un poco duro. Después de un largo período de

tiempo, el sonido parecerá más suave aunque sin

perder claridad ni detalle.

Cuidado y Mantenimiento

Por regla general, tanto la superficie de cada caja

como la del recinto del CT8 XO sólo requiere que se le

quite el polvo. Si desea utilizar un limpiador de tipo

aerosol, retire en primer lugar cuidadosamente la rejilla

protectora de la caja y aléjela del recinto. Rocíe sobre

la gamuza limpiadora, nunca directamente sobre el

recinto. La tela de la rejilla protectora puede limpiarse

con un cepillo normal para la ropa o un aspirador

mientras está separada del recinto.

Cuando vuelva a colocar en su lugar las rejillas

protectoras, asegúrese antes que nada de que las

clavijas de fijación estén correctamente alineadas con

los correspondientes receptáculos del recinto.

Evite tocar los diafragmas de los altavoces –en

especial de los tweeters- ya que podría dañarlos.

Garantía limitada

Este producto ha sido diseñado y fabricado de

acuerdo con las más altas normas de calidad. No

obstante, si hallara algún desperfecto B&W Group Ltd.

y sus distribuidores nacionales garantizan, sin coste

alguno para usted, la mano de obra (es posible que

haya excepciones) y la reposición de piezas en

cualquier país donde se cuente con un distribuidor

autorizado de B&W.

Esta garantía limitada es válida por un período de

cinco años desde la fecha de compra y de dos años

16. Per scollegare completamente questo apparato

dalla rete AC, scollegate il cavo di alimentazione

dalla presa di rete AC.

19. Quando si rende necessario sostituire un

componente, assicuratevi che il centro assistenza

utilizzi solo ricambi originali o con prestazioni

equivalenti. Riparazioni con ricambi non

appropriati potrebbero danneggiare l’apparecchio

e causare rischi di scossa elettrica o incendi.

20. Controllate che non vi siano cavi sotto al tappeto

che potrebbero essere danneggiati dai piedini a

punta. Non trascinate o spingete il prodotto sui

piedini a punta poiché potrebbe causarne il

distaccamento dal cabinet e danneggiarlo. Fate

attenzione a non farvi male con i piedini a punta.

21. Per avere sempre la sicurezza della protezione

contro rischi di corto circuiti o danni causati da

incendi, utilizzate sempre fusibili appropriati . Il

prodotto dispone di fusibili posizionati sia al suo

interno che sul pannello posteriore. La sostituzione

dei fusibili interni è riservata ad un tecnico

autorizzato. Le specifiche dei fusibili da utilizzare

sono riportate tra le caratteristiche del prodotto.

22. Per scollegare completamente il prodotto

dall’alimentazione, è necessario scollegare

fisicamente il cavo di alimentazione dalla presa, o

dal pannello posteriore dell’unità, che dovrebbero

essere sempre facilmente accessibili quando

l’unità è in uso.

23. L’apparecchiatura dovrebbe essere collegata

solamente a una sorgente elettrica del tipo e del

voltaggio indicato vicino al connettore di

alimentazione posto sul pannello posteriore. Se

non siete sicuri del tipo di alimentazione che avete

in casa consultate il vostro ente fornitore di

energia elettrica.

24. Non sovraccaricate le prese di alimentazione,

prolunghe o accessori di derivazione, poiché

potrebbe dare luogo a corto circuiti o incendi.

25. Campi magnetici – Questo prodotto crea un

campo magnetico diffuso. Non posizionare nessun

oggetto che potrebbe venire danneggiato da

questo campo magnetico (ad esempio televisori a

tubo catodico, monitor di computer, cassette

audio e video o carte magnetiche) nel raggio di

0,5m dall’apparecchio. Il campo magnetico

potrebbe causare distorsioni dell’immagine

prodotta dal tubo catodico del televisore se posto

al di sotto della distanza minima consigliata.

Schermi LCD o al Plasma non risentono degli

effetti del campo magnetico.

26. Posizionamento – Non posizionate l’unità su un

tavolino, stand, treppiedi, o supporto instabile,

poiché potrebbe cadere causando danni a cose o

persone. Il posizionamento del prodotto andrebbe

effettuato seguendo le istruzioni del costruttore.

Non esponete l’apparecchio alla pioggia o all’umidità,

non utilizzatelo vicino all’acqua, non posizionate sopra

al prodotto contenitori di liquidi che potrebbero

penetrare nell'unità.

Quando installate l'unità, assicuratevi che la presa AC

che state utilizzando sia sempre accessibile. Nel caso

di malfunzionamenti o problemi vari, spegnete

immediatamente l'unità e scollegate il cavo di

alimentazione dalla presa di rete. Anche se l'interruttore

principale è disattivato, all'interno del prodotto vi è

comunque una minima tensione in circolo. Quando

l'apparecchiatura rimane inutilizzata per un periodo di

tempo piuttosto lungo, assicuratevi di scollegare il cavo

di alimentazione dalla presa di rete AC.

Grazie per aver scelto un sistema Custom Theatre

Bowers and Wilkins.

Sino dalla sua fondazione nel 1966, la filosofia di B&W

è stata la ricerca della perfetta riproduzione sonora.

Inspirata dal fondatore John Bowers, questa ricerca ha

comportato non solo importanti investimenti nella

tecnologia audio e nell’innovazione ma ha anche

considerato l’ascolto di musica e film per assicurare

che la tecnologia venga sfruttata per ottenere i

massimi risultati su tutti i fronti.

I diffusori Custom Theatre sono realizzati

specificatamente per essere inseriti liberamente nelle

vostre stanze di ascolto o all’interno di mobili

personalizzati come parte di una stanza progettata

appositamente per l’home theatre. In questo senso,

essi dispongono di diverse caratteristiche che li

rendono adattabili a diverse tipologie di installazione

preservando la loro qualità audio. Comunque, non

integrano caratteristiche che potete trovare in latri

diffusori B&W non adatte a questi tipi di applicazione;

un esempio può essere il tweeter installato sopra al

diffusore, che può funzionare adeguatamente solo se il

diffusore è in aria libera, e non all’interno di un cabinet.

Inoltre, a causa della normale pratica di nascondere i

diffusori con panni acusticamente trasparenti che si

intonano con l’arredamento, tutti i modelli eccetto uno

nono sono dotati di griglie. L’eccezione è il diffusore

surround CT8 DS, che necessita di sporgere all’interno

della stanza per un corretto funzionamento.

Indipendentemente da quanto possano essere di buona

qualità i diffusori stessi, non saranno in grado di

esprimere appieno il loro potenziale se installati non

adeguatamente. Vi preghiamo di leggere l’intero manuale,

in questo modo otterrete il meglio dal vostro sistema.

B&W ha una rete di distributori in più di 60 paesi che

saranno in grado di assistervi nel caso in cui aveste

dei problemi che il vostro rivenditore non può risolvere.

Benchè i diffusori sono semi-attivi e necessitino di un

crossover attivo, tutte le amplificazioni devono essere

alimentate separatamente. Ogni CT8 LR, CT8 CC e

CT8 DS richiede due canali amplificati, o tre se

utilizzato con un subwoofer CT8 SW. Questo permette

all’utente di una massima flessibilità nella scelta di

questi componenti.

Il subwoofer CT8 SW, a differenza della maggior parte

dei subwoofer disponibili sul mercato, non dispone di

un suo amplificatore interno e viene utilizzato in

maniera diversa dal normale. Il concetto originale di

home theatre basato su vari sistemi Dolby Digital e

DTS raccomanda l’utilizzo di cinque o più canali

principali più un singolo canale Low Frequency Effects

(LFE). I canali principali contengono senali full range ed

il canale LFE contiene effetti speciali fino a circa

140Hz. Partendo dal fatto che molte persone non

vogliono cinque o più diffusori full-range in una stanza,

i sistemi Dolby Digital e DTS permettono ai canali

principali di di funzionare con piccoli diffusori con una

estensione sui bassi limitata. Le frequenze più basse

da questi canali vengono filtrate ed aggiunte al canale

LFE per essere riprodotte da un subwoofer. La

frequenza di taglio è impostata normalmente a circa

80Hz, e per logica pensiamo che il suono diventa

progressivamente meno direzionale al’abbassarsi della

frequenza e la localizzazione perde importanza.

Questo è vero per alcuni aspetti, ma le orecchie

possono processare informazioni direzionali a

frequenze molto basse e più è esteso il basso dei

canali principali, più realistico sarà il suono globale.

Molti processori high-end offrono livelli di frequenza di

taglio più bassi proprio per questa ragione.

Per preservare questa informazione relativa alla

direzionalità, potrebbe essere utile aggiungere un CT8

SW ad ognuno dei canali principali, estendendo la

risposta in frequenza al di sotto di 20Hz. La

configurazione minima raccomandata è di assegnare un

subwoofer ad ognuno dei canali frontali destro e

sinistro, in modo da ricostruire alcune informazioni

direzionali dell’azione che si svolge sullo schermo ed

avere la piena direzionalità su programmi audio 2 canali.

Il senso di acustica spaziale aumenta se vengono

aggiunti ulteriori subwoofer ai canali rimanenti. Se è

necessario raggiungere alti livelli sonori per i più grandi

ambienti di ascolto e per un maggior realismo, possono

essere aggiunti fino a due subwoofer per ogni canale

principale. (si noti che l’aggiunta di più subwoofer ad

ogni singolo canale richiederà una regolazione del livello

di uscita del relativo canale CT8 XO per ripristinare il

corretto bilanciamento dei toni). Il canale LFE viene

quindi distribuito a tutti i canali principali che hanno un

subwoofer assegnato, semplicemente configurando il

processore surround come se non ci fossero subwoofer

presenti, e specificando dove dovrebbero essere essere

inviati i segnali LFE. In parole povere, la dicitura "no

subwoofer" in questo contesto significa "nessun

subwoofer dedicato al canale LFE".

Informazioni di sicurezza!

Un sistema CT800 è in grado di produrre

livelli di pressione sonora molto elevati.

L’esposizione prolungata ad alti livelli

sonori potrebbe portare danni temporanei

e conseguentemente permanenti

dell’apparato uditivo. Non eccedete i livelli Leq (livello

sonoro equivalente) raccomandati di esposizione, per

esempio, quelli specificati nelle norme ISO 1999:1990.

Rodaggio ed accessori

Accessori

Diffusori di questa caratura necessitano di segnali

della più alta qualità. Scegliete i vostri componenti

elettronici e cavi di connessione con attenzione.

Possiamo consigliarvi su cosa cercare quando

scegliete un accessorio, ma non indicarvi prodotti

specifici. Gli standards di questi prodotti sono in

continua evoluzione ed il vostro rivenditore sarà in

grado di mostrarvi una grande varietà di prodotti

aggiornati con le nuove tecnologie.

Nelle caratteristiche indichiamo una gamma di potenze

di amplificazione, la più alta è definita dalla capacità di

gestione del diffusore. Quando calcolate la potenza di

pilotaggio è dato per scontato che l’amplificatore non

vada in clipping,che distorca lo spettro di potenza

della frequenza del segnale, e che il segnale sia

materiale normale. Toni di test da oscillatori o similari

non sono attendibili. Il valore di potenza minore è il

minimo che consideriamo necessario per raggiungere

livelli di ascolto ragionevoli senza distorsione udibile

nelle stanze più piccole (meno di 60m3). Più elevata è

la potenza che utilizzate, minore sarà la possibilità di

manifestarsi di clipping dell’amplificatore.

Spesso si può definire la bontà di un amplificatore di

pilotare diffusori con carichi difficili guardando le sue

caratteristiche di potenza con carichi di 4 ed 8ohm.

Più vicino è il rapporto a 2:1 meglio è, poiché indica

una buona capacità di pilotaggio in corrente.

Per ridurre l’effetto che il cavo ha sulla risposta in

frequenza del diffusore a livelli non udibili, l’impedenza

del cavo a tutte le frequenze (misurando entrambi i

conduttori positivo e negativo in serie) dovrebbe

essere tenuta al livello più basso possibile e

certamente sotto a 0.1ohm. A basse frequenze, la

resistenza DC del cavo è il fattore dominante e

dovreste scegliere un cavo di diametro diverso

sufficiente per raggiungere i requisiti di impedenza su

tutta la lunghezza del cavo che dovrete utilizzare. A

medie ed alte frequenze la componente induttiva

dell’impedenza può dominare la resistenza DC. Questa

ed altre caratteristiche influenzate dalla costruzione

dettagliata del cavo diventano importanti.

Rodaggio

Le prestazioni dei diffusori cambieranno velocemente

durante il periodo di ascolto iniziale. Se sono stati

immagazzinati in un ambiente freddo, i materiali

smorzanti e le sospensioni richiederanno un certo

tempo per riacquistare le loro proprietà meccaniche.

Anche le sospensioni degli altoparlanti si lasceranno

andare durante le prime ore di utilizzo. Il tempo

necessario per i diffusori per raggiungere le loro

prestazioni ottimali varia in base alle condizioni di

immagazzinaggio precedenti ed a come vengono

usati. Come guida, considerate almeno fino ad una

settimana per stabilizzare gli effetti della temperatura e

15 ore di uso medio perche le parti meccaniche

raggiungano le loro caratteristiche ottimali.

Comunque, ci sono stati anche casi di rodaggi più

lunghi (circa un mese), ma che hanno poco a che fare

con i cambiamenti dei diffusori, e più con gli

ascoltatori che si sono dovuti adeguare ad un nuovo

suono. Con diffusori di elevata qualità come questi,

potreste notare un significativo incremento nella

quantità dei dettagli se comparati con il tipo di suono

a cui eravate abituati in precedenza; all’inizio il suono

potrebbe sembrarvi troppo "diretto" e forse duro.

Dopo un certo periodo di tempo il suono sembrerà più

dolce, ma senza perdita di chiarezza e dettaglio

Manutenzione

La superficie deI cabinet del diffusore e del CT8 XO

solitamente deve essere solo spolverata. Se volete

utilizzare un apposito prodotto spray antistatico per

pulirlo, prima rimuovete le griglie tirandole

delicatamente verso l’esterno del cabinet. Spruzzate il

prodotto sul panno, non direttamente sul cabinet. Per

pulire il tessuto delle griglie, potete utilizzare una

normale spazzola per panni, passandola delicatamente

sulla griglia dopo che è stata tolta dal diffusore.

Quando reinserite le griglie, assicuratevi che i piolini

siano correttamente allineati con i fori corrispondenti

sul cabinet prima di premerle in posizione.

Evitate di toccare gli altoparlanti, specialmente i

tweeter, poiché potrebbero danneggiarsi.

Garanzia limitata

Questo prodotto è stato progettato e fabbricato

secondo i più alti standard qualitativi. Tuttavia,

nell’improbabile caso di un guasto o

malfunzionamento, B&W Group Ltd. e i suoi distributori

nazionali garantiscono parti sostitutive e mano d’opera

gratuite (alcune eccezioni sono possibili) nei paesi in

cui è presente un distributore ufficiale B&W.

Questa garanzia limitata è valida per un periodo di

Per ricevere assistenza in garanzia, bisognerà esibire,

compilata e timbrata dal rivenditore il giorno

dell’acquisto, il tagliando di garanzia e lo scontrino

Stel het apparaat niet bloot aan regen, gebruik het niet

Inleiding

Dank u voor de aanschaf van een Bowers & Wilkins

Custom Theater systeem.

Sinds de oprichting in 1966 streeft B&W naar de

perfecte geluidsweergave. Geïnspireerd door de

oprichter wijlen John Bowers, heeft dit streven niet

alleen geresulteerd in grote investeringen in

audiotechnologie en –innovatie, maar ook in een

voortdurende waardering voor muziek en film om er

zeker van te zijn dat de technologie een optimaal

resultaat heeft.

Custom Theater luidsprekers zijn speciaal ontwikkeld

om te worden ingebouwd in de wanden van een

luisterkamer of in speciaal gemaakte meubels als

onderdeel van een totaal theater concept. Voor dat

doel omvatten zij allerlei eigenschappen die

aanpassing aan een groot aantal installatie opties

mogelijk maakt, naast uiteraard een sublieme

geluidskwaliteit. Zij bezitten echter niet de

eigenschappen die sommige andere producten van

B&W hebben en die niet geschikt zijn voor dit type

installatie. Voorbeeld van zo’n kenmerk is de plaatsing

van een tweeter bovenop de kast, wat alleen goed

werkt bij een vrijstaande luidspreker. Verder worden

alle luidsprekers op één na zonder grills geleverd,

omdat bij een normale custom installatie praktijk

inbouwluidsprekers worden verborgen door gebruik te

maken van akoestisch transparant doek dat past bij

de omgeving. De uitzondering is de CT8 DS surround

luidspreker die in de kamer dient uit te steken om de

afstraling van de eenheden aan de zijkant te laten

werken.

Ongeacht de absolute kwaliteit van de luidsprekers, ze

komen alleen optimaal tot hun recht wanneer ze

correct zijn geïnstalleerd. Lees deze handleiding

daarom in zijn geheel door. Op die manier zult u

optimaal profijt hebben van het product.

B&W heeft een netwerk van toegewijde distributeurs in

meer dan 60 landen die u kunnen helpen voor het

geval u een probleem heeft dat uw leverancier niet kan

oplossen.

Hoewel de luidsprekers semi-actief zijn en een actief

wisselfilter noodzakelijk is, dienen alle eindversterkers

afzonderlijk te worden aangestuurd. Elke CT8 LR, CT8

CC en CT8 DS hebben twee kanalen eindversterking

nodig, of drie wanneer ook een CT8 SW wordt

gebruikt. Dit biedt de gebruiker een maximale

flexibiliteit door deze componenten te kiezen.

De CT8 SW subwoofer bezit, in tegenstelling tot de

meeste subwoofers die op de markt zijn, geen eigen

eindversterker en wordt dan ook anders ingezet dan

gebruikelijk. Het originele concept van home theater,

gebaseerd op verschillende Dolby Digital en DTS

systemen, schrijft vijf of meer kanalen voor, aangevuld

met een enkel Laag Frequent Effect (LFE) kanaal. De

hoofdkanalen omvatten een breedband signaal en het

LFE kanaal bevat speciale effecten tot ca. 140 Hz.

Vanwege het feit dat veel mensen geen vijf of meer

luidsprekers in één kamer wensen, zijn de Dolby

Digital en DTS systemen zo opgezet dat de

hoofdkanalen kunnen worden gebruikt met kleine

luidsprekers die maar beperkt het laag kunnen

weergeven. De laagste frequenties van die kanalen

worden uitgefilterd en toegevoegd aan het LFE kanaal

en worden weergegeven door een subwoofer. De

afsnijfrequentie van het filter wordt doorgaans op rond

80 Hz ingesteld met als uitgangspunt dat naarmate de

frequentie lager is het geluid steeds minder is gericht

en dat ook de lokalisatie minder belangrijk wordt. Dat

is tot op zekere hoogte waar maar ons oor kan

gerichte informatie op zeer lage frequenties verwerken

en hoe meer laag er door de hoofdkanalen wordt

weergegeven, hoe realistischer het geluidsbeeld wordt.

Veel high-end processoren bieden juist om die reden

lage afsnijfrequenties.

Om deze directionele informatie te behouden, kan een

CT8 SW aan elk van de hoofd kanalen worden

toegevoegd, waardoor ook het frequentiebereik wordt

uitgebreid tot ruim beneden 20 Hz. De aanbevolen

minimum configuratie is één subwoofer toe te voegen

aan elk van de front links en rechts kanalen, waardoor

een deel van de richtingsinformatie van de actie in

beeld en de volledige richtingsinformatie bij

tweekanalen audioprogramma’s wordt hersteld. Het

gevoel van akoestische ruimte wordt sterker naarmate

meer subwoofers worden toegevoegd aan de

resterende kanalen. Wanneer hogere geluidsniveaus

nodig zijn voor grotere ruimten en meer realisme,

kunnen maximaal twee subwoofers worden

toegevoegd aan elk hoofdkanaal. (Denk er wel aan dat

het toevoegen van meerdere subwoofers aan één

kanaal vereist dat het uitgangsniveau van de

subwoofer uitgang van dat CT8 XO kanaal wordt

gecorrigeerd om de juiste klankbalans te handhaven.)

Het LFE kanaal wordt doorgegeven aan alle hoofd

kanalen waaraan een subwoofer is toegewezen door

eenvoudigweg de surround processor als was er geen

subwoofer aanwezig en waar het LFE signaal naar toe

moet. Strikt genomen betekent de regel "geen

subwoofer" hier "geen subwoofer toegewezen aan het

LFE kanaal".

Veiligheidswaarschuwing!

Een CT800 systeem kan een zeer hoog

geluidsniveau bereiken. Langdurige

blootstelling aan hoge geluidsdrukken

kunnen tot tijdelijke en zelfs blijvende

nooit het Leq (equivalent sound level) geluidsniveau,

bijvoorbeeld, als gespecificeerd in ISO 1999:1990.

Inspelen en Randapparatuur

Randapparatuur

Luidsprekers van deze kwaliteit verdienen signalen van

de allerhoogste kwaliteit. Kies uw elektronische

apparatuur en verbindingskabels met grote zorg. Wij

kunnen u richtlijnen geven voor wat belangrijk is bij het

kiezen van randapparatuur, maar kunnen geen

specifieke items aanbevelen. Het niveau van zulke

producten stijgt voortdurend en uw dealer kan u een

groot aantal hoogwaardige producten demonstreren.

In de technische gegevens bevelen we een reeks

versterkervermogens aan. Het hoogste getal wordt

bepaald door de belastbaarheid van de luidspreker. Bij

het calculeren van de belastbaarheid wordt

aangenomen dat de versterker niet clipt, waardoor het

vermogen/frequentiespectrum van het signaal

vervormt, maar dat het om een normaal

ingangssignaal gaat. Testsignalen van generatoren en

CD’s zijn niet van toepassing. Het laagste getal geeft

het minimum vermogen aan dat wij noodzakelijk

achten om een behoorlijk afspeelniveau te kunnen

bereiken zonder hoorbare vervorming in een kleinere

kamer (minder dan 60 m3of 2000 cu ft). Hoe meer

vermogen u gebruikt, hoe kleiner de kans dat de

versterker gaat clippen.

U kunt vaak zien hoe goed een versterker is aan het

vermogen om complexe belastingen te sturen door

naar de verhouding van de opgegeven vermogens te

kijken in 4 Ωen 8 Ω. Hoe meer die verhouding naar

2:1 gaat hoe beter de stroomlevering is.

Om het effect dat de kabel op het frequentieverloop

van de luidspreker heeft onhoorbaar te maken, dient

de weerstand van de kabel op alle frequenties (de

positieve en negatieve aders bij elkaar opgeteld) zo

laag mogelijk te worden gehouden en in elk geval

beneden 0,1 _ te liggen. Op lage frequenties is de

gelijkstroomweerstand van de kabel het belangrijkste

en u dient de kabel zo dik te kiezen om over de

gewenste lengte de juiste weerstand te bereiken. Op

midden en hoge frequenties kan de inductieve

component van de impedantie de

gelijkstroomweerstand domineren. Deze en andere

factoren worden beïnvloed door details van de

constructie van de kabel en zijn belangrijk.

Inspelen

De eigenschappen van de luidspreker zullen

gedurende de eerste luisterperiode op subtiele wijze

iets veranderen. Wanneer de luidspreker in een koude

omgeving opgeslagen is geweest, zijn de dempende

materialen en de ophanging wat stug en het duurt

enige tijd voordat zij de juiste mechanische

eigenschappen terug hebben. Ook zal de ophanging

in de eerste uren van het gebruik nog wat soepeler

worden. De tijd die de luidspreker nodig heeft om de

beoogde eigenschappen te bereiken, wordt bepaald

door de wijze waarop hij voorheen is opgeslagen en

de manier waarop hij wordt gebruikt. Houd als richtlijn

een week aan om een stabiele temperatuur te

bereiken en ca. 15 uur gebruik om de mechanische

onderdelen de beoogde eigenschappen te laten

verkrijgen.

Maar ook langere inspeeltijden zijn gerapporteerd (tot

een maand) en er zijn ook aanwijzingen dat dit minder

te maken heeft met veranderingen van eigenschappen

van de luidspreker als met de gewenning van de

luisteraar aan de nieuwe klank. Dat geldt vooral voor

luidsprekers als deze, die in hoge mate laten horen

wat de werkelijke inhoud van de opname is en

daarmee een grotere detaillering in vergelijking tot wat

de luisteraar voorheen was gewend. Aanvankelijk kan

het geluid wat direct en zelfs enigszins hard lijken. Na

enige tijd lijkt het geluid zachter te worden, maar

zonder aan tekening en detaillering te verliezen.

Nazorg

De kast en de meubels van de CT8 XO behoeft

normaal gesproken alleen maar te worden afgestoft.

Wilt u een schoonmaakspray of een ander middel

gebruiken, verwijder dan eerst de grill door deze

voorzichtig van de kast te trekken. Spuit op een

zachte doek en nooit direct op de kast. De stof van de

grill kan met een gewone kledingborstel worden

schoongemaakt, terwijl deze van de kast is

afgenomen.

Bij het terugplaatsen van grills erop letten dat de

pennen correct gelijnd zijn met de openingen in de

kast voordat u ze op hun plaats drukt.

Vermijd aanraking van de eenheden, vooral de tweeter,

die zeer gemakkelijk beschadigd kan raken.

Garantie

Dit product is volgens de hoogste kwaliteitsnormen

ontworpen en vervaardigd. Mocht er toch iets defect

zijn aan dit product dan garanderen B&W Group Ltd.

en haar landelijk distributeurnetwerk dat u aanspraak

kunt maken op kosteloze reparatie (er zijn

uitzonderingen) en vervanging van onderdelen in elk

land, door een officiële B&W distributeur.

Deze beperkte garantie is geldig voor een periode van

vijf jaar vanaf de aankoopdatum of twee jaar voor

elektronica, waaronder actieve luidsprekers.

Voorwaarden

1. De garantie is beperkt tot de reparatie van de

apparatuur. Transport- en andere kosten,

eventueel risico voor het verwijderen, vervoeren en

installeren van producten vallen niet onder deze

garantie.

2. De garantie geldt alleen voor de eerste eigenaar

en is niet overdraagbaar.

3. Deze garantie is niet van toepassing in andere

gevallen dan defecten van materialen en/of

fabricage ten tijde van aankoop en is niet van

toepassing:

a. op schade die veroorzaakt is door onjuiste

installatie, aansluiting of verpakking;

b. op schade die veroorzaakt is door onjuist gebruik,

anders dan beschreven in de handleiding,

nalatigheid, modificatie, of gebruik van onderdelen

die niet door B&W zijn goedgekeurd of gemaakt;

c. op schade veroorzaakt door defecte of

ongeschikte aanvullende apparatuur;

d. op schade veroorzaakt door ongeval, onweer,

water, brand, hitte, oorlog, openbaar geweld of

een andere oorzaak buiten redelijk toezicht van

B&W en haar distributeurs;

e. op producten waarvan het serienummer gewijzigd,

verwijderd, gewist of onleesbaar is gemaakt;

f. indien reparaties of modificaties zijn uitgevoerd

door een onbevoegd persoon.

4. Deze garantie is ter aanvulling op eventuele

nationale/regionale wettelijke verplichtingen voor

dealers of nationale distributeurs en heeft geen

invloed op uw wettelijke rechten als consument.

Garantieclaims

Wanneer u aanspraak wilt maken op garantie, handel

dan als volgt:

1. Indien de apparatuur wordt gebruikt in het land

van aankoop, neem dan contact op met de

erkende B&W dealer waar de apparatuur is

gekocht.

2. Indien de apparatuur niet in het land van aankoop

wordt gebruikt, neem dan contact op met de

nationale distributeur van B&W in het land waar u

verblijft. Deze zal u informeren hoe te handelen.

Ook kunt u contact opnemen met B&W in Groot-

Brittannië of onze website bezoeken om te zien

wie uw lokale distributeur is.

Om uw recht op garantie geldig te maken, dient u het

garantiebewijs te overleggen, op de dag van aankoop

ingevuld en van een stempel voorzien door uw

handelaar. De originele aankoopfactuur of ander bewijs

van aankoop, voorzien van koopdatum volstaan

8. Η συσκευή θα πρέπει να τοποθετείται µακριά

απ πηγέσ θερµτητασ πωσ οι θερµάστρεσ,

τα καλοριφέρ, τα κλιµατιστικά και άλλεσ

συσκευέσ συµπεριλαµβανοµένων και των

ενισχυτών.

9. Λάβετε µέτρα ώστε να τηρηθούν λεσ οι

απαιτήσεισ για τη σωστή γείωση και πλωση

τησ συσκευήσ. Αν το φισ του καλωδίου δεν

ταιριάζει στην πρίζα, συµβουλευτείτε έναν

ηλεκτρολγο.

10. Το καλώδιο τροφοδοσίασ θα πρέπει να

τοποθετείται έτσι ώστε να µην κινδυνεύει να

πατηθεί, να παρασυρθεί ή να κοπεί απ

αντικείµενα που θα τοποθετηθούν επάνω

του. Φροντίστε επίσησ ώστε να µην τσακίζει

σε κανένα σηµείο του.

11. Χρησιµοποιείτε µνο πρσθετεσ συσκευέσ ή

αξεσουάρ που εγκρίνονται/προτείνονται απ

τον κατασκευαστή.

12. Η συσκευή θα πρέπει να τοποθετείται µνο σε

ράφια και βάσεισ που εγκρίνονται

απ τον κατασκευαστή. Αν πρέπει

να µετακινήσετε τη συσκευή µαζί

µε τη βάση τησ, κάντε το µε

προσοχή. Απτοµα σταµατήµατα,

δυνατ σπρώξιµο και ανώµαλεσ επιφάνειεσ

µπορούν να γίνουν αιτία ανατροπήσ τησ βάσησ

και τησ συσκευήσ.

13. Βγάλτε τη συσκευή απ την πρίζα εάν δεν

σκοπεύετε να τη χρησιµοποιήσετε για µεγάλο

χρονικ διάστηµα, ή σε περίπτωση

καταιγίδασ.

14. Η συσκευή θα πρέπει να επισκευαστεί απ

εξουσιοδοτηµένο ειδικευµένο τεχνικ εάν:

Έχει υποστεί ζηµιά το καλώδιο τροφοδοσίασ

ή το φισ, έχουν εισχωρήσει στο εσωτερικ

τησ αντικείµενα ή υγρά, έχει εκτεθεί σε

βροχή ή υγρασία, δεν φαίνεται να λειτουργεί

κανονικά ή παρατηρείτε αξιοσηµείωτη

αλλαγή στην απδοσή τησ, πέσει κάτω ή

καταστραφεί το κάλυµµά τησ (σασί).

15. Μην εκθέτετε τη συσκευή σε νερ και

υγρασία, και µην τοποθετείτε επάνω τησ

αντικείµενα που περιέχουν υγρά, πωσ βάζα,

ποτήρια κ.λπ.

16. ∆ιακοπή τροφοδοσίασ – Η παροχή ρεύµατοσ

στη συσκευή διακπτεται πλήρωσ µνο αν

την βγάλετε απ την πρίζα, και γι' αυτ η

πρίζα που θα την συνδέσετε θα πρέπει να

είναι εύκολα προσβάσιµη.

17. Το φισ του καλωδίου τροφοδοσίασ θα πρέπει

να είναι εύκολα προσβάσιµο.

18. Μην εκθέτετε τισ µπαταρίεσ σε υψηλέσ

θερµοκρασίεσ πωσ στο φωσ του ήλιου, σε

φωτιά κ.λπ. Πετάξτε τισ χρησιµοποιηµένεσ

µπαταρίεσ σε ειδικούσ κάδουσ ανακύκλωσησ.

Το τρίγωνο µε το τεθλασµένο βέλοσ

σηµαίνει την ύπαρξη στο εσωτερικ

τησ συσκευήσ σηµείων µε υψηλή

τάση ρεύµατοσ, των οποίων η

µνωση δεν είναι δυνατή και τα

οποία µπορούν να προκαλέσουν

ηλεκτροπληξία.

Το τρίγωνο µε το θαυµαστικ εφιστά

την προσοχή του χρήστη σχετικά µε

19. Αν χρειαστούν ανταλλακτικά, βεβαιωθείτε τι

ο τεχνικσ που θα τα εγκαταστήσει θα

χρησιµοποιήσει τα ανταλλακτικά που ορίζει ο

κατασκευαστήσ, ή που έχουν τα ίδια

χαρακτηριστικά µε τα εξαρτήµατα που θα

αντικαταστήσουν. Η χρήση λάθοσ ή µη

εγκεκριµένων ανταλλακτικών µπορεί να

προκαλέσει ζηµιά στη συσκευή, φωτιά,

ηλεκτροπληξία κ.λπ.

20. Το καλώδιο τροφοδοσίασ θα πρέπει να

τοποθετείται έτσι ώστε να µην κινδυνεύει να

πατηθεί, να παρασυρθεί ή να κοπεί απ

αντικείµενα που θα τοποθετηθούν επάνω του

(πωσ π.χ. οι ακίδεσ στήριξησ του ηχείου).

Φροντίστε επίσησ ώστε να µην τσακίζει σε

κανένα σηµείο του. Μην µετακινείτε το ηχείο

µε τισ ακίδεσ να αγγίζουν το δάπεδο γιατί

µπορεί να βγουν και να προκαλέσουν ζηµιά.

Προσέξτε ώστε µην τραυµατιστείτε απ τισ

ακίδεσ.

21. Για διαρκή προστασία κατά του κινδύνου

φωτιάσ, χρησιµοποιείτε µνο ασφάλειεσ

σωστού τύπου και χαρακτηριστικών.

Υπάρχουν ασφάλειεσ τροφοδοσίασ στην πίσω

πλευρά τησ συσκευήσ και στο εσωτερικ τησ.

Ενδεχµενη αντικατάσταση τησ εσωτερικήσ

ασφάλειασ θα πρέπει να γίνει µνο απ

ειδικευµένο/εξουσιοδοτηµένο τεχνικ. Οι

ασφάλειεσ που µπορούν να αντικατασταθούν

απ το χρήστη αναφέρονται στην εντητα

των τεχνικών προδιαγραφών.

22. Για να διακψετε πλήρωσ την τροφοδοσία

ρεύµατοσ στη συσκευή θα πρέπει να την

βγάλετε απ την πρίζα, διαφορετικά θα

συνεχίσει να δέχεται ρεύµα. Για το λγο

αυτ, η πρίζα στην οποία θα τη συνδέσετε θα

πρέπει να είναι εύκολα προσβάσιµη ανά πάσα

στιγµή.

23. Η συσκευή αυτή θα πρέπει να τροφοδοτείται

αποκλειστικά µε ηλεκτρικ ρεύµα των

προδιαγραφών που περιγράφονται στο

φυλλάδιο των οδηγιών χρήσησ ή/και στην

πίσω πλευρά τησ (για την Ελλάδα,

220V/50Hz). Συνδέστε τη συσκευή στην πρίζα

χρησιµοποιώντασ µνο µε το καλώδιο που τη

συνοδεύει ή κάποιο αντίστοιχο.

24. Μην κάνετε οποιαδήποτε µετατροπή στο

καλώδιο τροφοδοσίασ, και µην προσπαθήσετε

να παρακάµψετε τουσ κανονισµούσ γείωσησ

ή/και πλωσησ. Αποφύγετε να

χρησιµοποιήσετε προεκτάσεισ (µπαλαντέζεσ)

ή πολύπριζα, και, αν χρησιµοποιήσετε, µην τα

υπερφορτώσετε µε πολλέσ συσκευέσ, γιατί

µπορεί να προκληθεί ηλεκτροπληξία.

25. Η συσκευή αυτή παράγει ελεύθερο στατικ

µαγνητικ πεδίο. Μην την τοποθετήσετε σε

απσταση µικρτερη απ µισ µέτρο απ

συσκευέσ και αντικείµενα που είναι

ευαίσθητα στο µαγνητισµ (συµβατικέσ

τηλεοράσεισ και οθνεσ ηλ. υπολογιστών,

δισκέτεσ, κασέτεσ ήχου, βιντεοκασέτεσ,

πιστωτικέσ κάρτεσ κ.λπ.). Οι οθνεσ LCD και

plasma δεν επηρεάζονται απ τα µαγνητικά

πεδία.

26. Μην τοποθετήσετε τη συσκευή σε ασταθείσ

βάσεισ, τρίποδα, βραχίονεσ, τραπέζια κ.λπ.,

γιατί µπορεί να πέσει και προκαλέσει σοβαρή

ζηµιά ή τραυµατισµ. Τοποθετήστε τη

συσκευή µνο σύµφωνα µε τισ οδηγίεσ του

κατασκευαστή.

Μην εκθέτετε τη συσκευή σε βροχή ή υγρασία,

µην την τοποθετήσετε κοντά σε νερ ή σε

υγρούσ χώρουσ, και µην τοποθετείτε επάνω τησ

αντικείµενα που περιέχουν υγρά, πωσ βάζα,

ποτήρια κ.λπ.

προκύψει κάποιο πρβληµα ή δυσλειτουργία,

κλείστε αµέσωσ τη συσκευή απ το διακπτη

λειτουργίασ και βγάλτε την απ την πρίζα. Ακµη

και αν η συσκευή είναι κλειστή απ τον

διακπτη, η συσκευή συνεχίζει να δέχεται ρεύµα

σε χαµηλ επίπεδο. Αν δεν σκοπεύετε να

χρησιµοποιήσετε τη συσκευή για µεγάλο χρονικ

διάστηµα, βγάλτε την απ την πρίζα.

Οικιακού Κινηµατογράφου Bowers and Wilkins.

Aπ την ίδρυσή τησ το 1966, η φιλοσοφία τησ

B&W ήταν πάντα η αναζήτηση τησ τέλειασ

ηχητικήσ αναπαραγωγήσ. Με εµπνευστή τον

ιδρυτή τησ, τον αξέχαστο John Bowers, αυτή η

αναζήτηση συνοδευταν χι µνο απ µεγάλεσ

επενδύσεισ στην τεχνολογία του ήχου και τισ

καινοτοµίεσ αλλά και απ µια διαρκή εκτίµηση

τησ µουσικήσ και των ταινιών ώστε να

διασφαλιστεί τι η τεχνολογία θα έχει το µέγιστο

αποτέλεσµα.

Τα ηχεία τησ σειράσ Custom Theatre έχουν

σχεδιαστεί ειδικά ώστε να ενσωµατώνονται

στουσ τοίχουσ του χώρου ακρασησ ή σε ειδικά

έπιπλα, ωσ µέροσ ενσ πλήρωσ σχεδιασµένου

συστήµατοσ οικιακού κινηµατογράφου. Για τον

σκοπ αυτ, διαθέτουν αρκετά ειδικά

χαρακτηριστικά που τα κάνουν να

προσαρµζονται σε µεγάλη γκάµα συνθηκών

εγκατάστασησ και να δίνουν εξαιρετικ ήχο.

Ωστσο, δεν διαθέτουν ορισµένα ειδικά

χαρακτηριστικά άλλων προϊντων τησ B&W,

καθώσ αυτά δεν είναι κατάλληλα για τέτοιου

είδουσ τοποθέτηση. πωσ, για παράδειγµα, το

tweeter απ πάνω που λειτουργεί

αποτελεσµατικά µνο σε ηχεία που στέκονται

ελεύθερα.

Επιπλέον, λγω τησ συνήθουσ πρακτικήσ

απκρυψησ των ενσωµατωµένων ηχείων µε

ύφασµα που ταιριάζει µε τη διακσµηση (χωρίσ

να εµποδίζει τον ήχο), λα τα µοντέλα εκτσ απ

ένα παρέχονται χωρίσ σήτεσ. Εξαίρεση αποτελεί

το πίσω ηχείο (surround) CT8 DS, που πρέπει να

εξέχει λίγο µέσα στο δωµάτιο ώστε τα πλαϊνά

οδηγιών. Θα σασ βοηθήσει να βελτιστοποιήσετε

την απδοση του συστήµατοσ.

Η B&W δραστηριοποιείται εµπορικά σε πάνω απ

60 χώρεσ σε ολκληρο τον κσµο και διατηρεί

ένα δίκτυο αποκλειστικών αντιπροσώπων που

µπορούν να σασ βοηθήσουν αν έχετε κάποιο

πρβληµα που δεν µπορεί να λύσει το κατάστηµα

απ' που αγοράσατε τα ηχεία.

Αν και τα ηχεία είναι ηµι-ενεργά και απαιτούν

ενεργ crossover, λη η τελική ενίσχυση πρέπει

να έρχεται απ ξεχωριστή πηγή. Κάθε CT8 LR,

CT8CC και CT8 DS απαιτεί δύο κανάλια τελικήσ

ενίσχυσησ (ή τρία αν χρησιµοποιηθούν µε το

υπογούφερ CT8 SW). Αυτ δίνει στον χρήστη

µεγάλη ευελιξία στην επιλογή αυτών των

τµηµάτων.

Το υπογούφερ CT8 SW, σε αντίθεση µε τα άλλα

υπογούφερ τησ αγοράσ, δεν διαθέτει δικ του

τελικ ενισχυτή και χρησιµοποιείται διαφορετικά

απ' τι συνηθίζεται. Τα συστήµατα οικιακού

κινηµατογράφου, που βασίζονται σε διάφορα

φορµά Dolby Digital και DTS, χρησιµοποιούν

πέντε ή περισστερα κανάλια συν ένα κανάλι

LFE (Low Frequency Effects) για τισ χαµηλέσ

συχντητεσ. Τα κύρια κανάλια περιέχουν πλήρη

σήµατα και το κανάλι LFE περιέχει ειδικά εφέ

έωσ περίπου τα 140 Hz. Αναγνωρίζοντασ τι

πολλοί άνθρωποι δεν θέλουν να έχουν πέντε

ηχεία πλήρουσ φάσµατοσ συχνοτήτων σε ένα

δωµάτιο, τα συστήµατα Dolby Digital και DTS

επιτρέπουν στα κύρια κανάλια να λειτουργούν µε

µικρά ηχεία, που έχουν περιορισµένα µπάσα. Οι

χαµηλέσ συχντητεσ αυτών των καναλιών

φιλτράρονται και προστίθενται στο κανάλι LFE

για αναπαραγωγή απ το υπογούφερ. Η

συχντητα αποκοπήσ του φίλτρου ρυθµίζεται

συνήθωσ γύρω στα 80 Ηz, µε το σκεπτικ τι ο

ήχοσ γίνεται λιγτερο κατευθυντικσ σο πιο

χαµηλή είναι η συχντητα και ο εντοπισµσ του

δεν έχει µεγάλη σηµασία. Αυτ είναι αλήθεια

µέχρι κάποιο σηµείο, αλλά τα αυτιά µπορούν να

επεξεργαστούν πληροφορίεσ κατεύθυνσησ σε

πολύ χαµηλέσ συχντητεσ και σο πιο πολύ

επεκτείνονται τα µπάσα των κύριων καναλιών,

τσο πιο ρεαλιστικ γίνεται το ηχητικ πεδίο. Γι'

αυτ το λγο, πολλοί επεξεργαστέσ high-end

προσφέρουν χαµηλτερεσ συχντητεσ φίλτρου

αποκοπήσ.

Για τη διατήρηση αυτών των πληροφοριών

κατεύθυνσησ, µπορεί να προστεθεί ένα CT8 SW

σε κάθε ένα απ τα κύρια κανάλια, ώστε η

απκριση συχνοτήτων να επεκτείνεται αρκετά

κάτω απ τα 20 Ηz. H ελάχιστη συνιστώµενη

διάταξη είναι να ανατεθεί ένα υπογούφερ σε

κάθε ένα απ τα µπροστινά κανάλια (left/right),

ώστε να διασώζονται κάποιεσ απ τισ

πληροφορίεσ κατεύθυνσησ που σχετίζονται

απευθείασ µε τη δράση τησ οθνησ και λεσ οι

πληροφορίεσ κατεύθυνσησ του ηχητικού

προγράµµατοσ 2 καναλιών. Η αίσθηση του χώρου

βελτιώνεται ακµα περισστερο αν προστεθούν

υπογούφερ και στα υπλοιπα κανάλια. Αν

χρειάζονται πιο ψηλέσ στάθµεσ ήχου (σε

µεγαλύτερουσ χώρουσ) και περισστεροσ

ρεαλισµσ, µπορούν να συνδεθούν έωσ 2

υπογούφερ σε κάθε ένα απ τα κύρια κανάλια.

(Θα πρέπει πάντωσ να ξέρετε τι η πρσθεση

πάνω απ ενσ υπογούφερ σε ένα κανάλι απαιτεί

ρύθµιση τησ στάθµησ εξδου του υπογούφερ

στο CT8 XO αυτού του καναλιού ώστε να

διατηρηθεί η σωστή τονική ισορροπία. Το κανάλι

LFE διανέµεται στη συνέχεια σε λα τα κύρια

κανάλια που έχουν συνδεθεί µε υπογούφερ,

απλώσ ρυθµίζοντασ τον επεξεργαστή surround

σαν να µην υπήρχε κανένα υπογούφερ και

ορίζοντασ που θα πρέπει να δροµολογηθεί το

σήµα LFE. Για την ακρίβεια, η φράση "χι

υπογούφερ" σηµαίνει τι "δεν υπάρχει

αποκλειστικ υπογούφερ για το κανάλι LFE".

Προφύλαξη Ασφαλείας!

Το σύστηµα CT800 έχει την ικαντητα

να παράγει πολύ υψηλέσ στάθµεσ

ηχητικήσ πίεσησ. Η εκτεταµένη

έκθεση σε υψηλέσ στάθµεσ ήχου

µπορεί να οδηγήσει πρώτα σε προσωρινή και

αργτερα σε µνιµη απώλεια ακοήσ. Μην

υπερβαίνετε τισ συνιστώµενεσ στάθµεσ έκθεσησ

Leq πωσ αυτέσ που ορίζονται στην

προδιαγραφή ISO 1999:1990.

Ηχεία τέτοιων δυνατοτήτων αξίζουν σήµατα

πολύ υψηλήσ ποιτητασ. Επιλέξτε τον

ηλεκτρονικ σασ εξοπλισµ και τα καλώδια

διασύνδεσησ µε προσοχή. Μπορούµε να σασ

καθοδηγήσουµε σχετικά µε το τι να αναζητάτε

ταν επιλέγετε πρσθετο εξοπλισµ, αλλά δεν

µπορούµε να κάνουµε συγκεκριµένεσ προτάσεισ.

Οι προδιαγραφέσ αυτών των προϊντων

βελτιώνονται συνεχώσ και ο έµπορσ σασ θα

είναι σε θέση να σασ δείξει µια σειρά

κατάλληλων, σύγχρονων προϊντων.

Στισ τεχνικέσ προδιαγραφέσ προτείνουµε τισ

κατάλληλεσ στάθµεσ ενίσχυσησ. Ο µεγαλύτεροσ

αριθµσ ορίζεται απ την ικαντητα διαχείρισησ

ισχύοσ του ηχείου. Στον υπολογισµ τησ

διαχείρισησ ισχύοσ, θεωρούµε τι ο ενισχυτήσ

δεν λειτουργεί µε παραµρφωση (clipping),

πράγµα που αλλοιώνει το φάσµα του σήµατοσ,

και τι το σήµα είναι απ υλικ κανονικού

προγράµµατοσ. ∆οκιµαστικοί τνοι απ

ταλαντωτέσ και τα συναφή δεν

χρησιµοποιούνται. Ο πιο χαµηλσ αριθµσ είναι

το ελάχιστο που θεωρούµε απαραίτητο για να

πετύχουµε λογικέσ στάθµεσ ακρασησ, χωρίσ

ακουστή παραµρφωση σε µικρτερο δωµάτιο

(λιγτερο απ 60 m3). σο υψηλτερη ισχύ

χρησιµοποιείτε, τσο λιγτερο πιθαν είναι να

ακούσετε παραµρφωση ενίσχυσησ.

Συχνά µπορούµε να καταλάβουµε πσο καλσ

είναι ένασ ενισχυτήσ στην οδήγηση σύνθετων

φορτίων στο ηχείο κοιτάζοντασ την ονοµαστική

ισχύ του σε φορτία 4 και 8 Ω. σο πιο κοντά

είναι η αναλογία στο 2:1 τσο το καλύτερο,

καθώσ αυτ δείχνει καλή διαχείριση του

ρεύµατοσ.

Για να µειώσουµε την επίδραση του καλωδίου

στην απκριση συχνοτήτων του ηχείου στισ µη-

ακουστέσ στάθµεσ, η αντίσταση του καλωδίου σε

λεσ τισ συχντητεσ (µετρώντασ τουσ θετικούσ

και τουσ αρνητικούσ αγωγούσ στη σειρά) θα

πρέπει να είναι σο πιο χαµηλή γίνεται και

οπωσδήποτε κάτω απ το 0,1 Ω. Στισ χαµηλέσ

συχντητεσ, η αντίσταση DC του καλωδίου είναι

σηµαντικσ παράγοντασ και θα πρέπει να

επιλέξετε επαρκή διάµετρο καλωδίου για να

πετύχετε την κατάλληλη αντίσταση σε σχέση µε

το µήκοσ του καλωδίου. Στισ µεσαίεσ και τισ

ψηλέσ συχντητεσ το επαγωγικ τµήµα τησ

αντίστασησ µπορεί να κυριαρχεί στην αντίσταση

DC. Αυτή και άλλεσ ιδιτητεσ που επηρεάζονται

απ την κατασκευή του καλωδίου είναι

σηµαντικοί παράγοντεσ.

Περίοδος προσαρµογής

Η απδοση των ηχείων θα βελτιωθεί αισθητά

κατά την αρχική περίοδο λειτουργίασ τουσ. Εάν

τα ηχεία ήταν αποθηκευµένα σε κρύο

περιβάλλον, τα µονωτικά υλικά και τα συστήµατα

ανάρτησησ των µεγαφώνων θα χρειαστούν

κάποιο χρνο για να ανακτήσουν τισ πραγµατικέσ

τουσ ιδιτητεσ. Ο χρνοσ που χρειάζεται κάθε

ηχείο για να αποδώσει σύµφωνα µε τισ

δυναττητέσ του εξαρτάται απ τισ συνθήκεσ

στισ οποίεσ ήταν αποθηκευµένο και απ τον

τρπο που χρησιµοποιείται. Η προσαρµογή του

ηχείου στη θερµοκρασία του περιβάλλοντοσ

µπορεί να χρειαστεί έωσ και µία εβδοµάδα, ενώ

τα µηχανικά του µέρη θέλουν γύρω στισ 15 ώρεσ

κανονικήσ χρήσησ για να αποκτήσουν τα

χαρακτηριστικά µε τα οποία έχουν σχεδιαστεί.

Ωστσο, έχουν αναφερθεί και µεγαλύτερεσ

περίοδοι προσαρµογήσ (µέχρι και ένασ µήνασ),

αλλά είναι πολύ πιθαν να έχουν σχέση µε το

χρνο που χρειάζεται ο ακροατήσ για να

συνηθίσει το νέο ήχο, και χι µε πραγµατική

αλλαγή στην απδοση του ηχείου. Τα ηχεία νέασ

τεχνολογίασ πωσ αυτά αποδίδουν πολύ

λεπτοµερέστερο ήχο απ τι ενδεχοµένωσ έχουν

συνηθίσει κάποιοι ακροατέσ, και ίσωσ αυτ τα

κάνει να ακούγονται στην αρχή λίγο έντονα και

ίσωσ "σκληρά". Μετά απ κάποιο διάστηµα, ο

ήχοσ θα "απαλύνει" αλλά η διαύγειά του θα

παραµείνει η ίδια.

Φροντίδα των ηχείων

Κανονικά, ο µνοσ καθαρισµσ που απαιτεί το

φινίρισµα των ηχείων είναι ένα ξεσκνισµα. Εάν

θέλετε να χρησιµοποιήσετε κάποιο καθαριστικ

µε τη µορφή σπρέι, θα πρέπει πρώτα να

αφαιρέσετε τα εµπρσθια προστατευτικά

καλύµµατα των ηχείων τραβώντασ το ελαφρά

απ τη καµπίνα. Ρίξτε το καθαριστικ στο πανί µε

το οποίο θα καθαρίσετε το ηχείο και χι

κατευθείαν επάνω στην καµπίνα. ∆οκιµάστε

πρώτα το καθαριστικ σε µία µικρή επιφάνεια

τησ καµπίνασ. Μην χρησιµοποιείτε ισχυρά

καθαριστικά, ή καθαριστικά µε οξέα, άλατα ή

αντιβακτηριδιακά στοιχεία. Μην χρησιµοποιείτε

καθαριστικά στα µεγάφωνα. Το ύφασµα τησ

προστατευτικήσ σήτασ καθαρίζεται – αφού την

αφαιρέσετε απ το ηχείο – µε µία απλή βούρτσα

ρούχων.

Αποφύγετε να αγγίζετε τα µεγάφωνα και κυρίωσ

το µεγάφωνο υψηλών συχνοτήτων (tweeter),

γιατί µπορεί να προκληθεί ζηµιά.

Περιορισµένη

εγγύηση

Το προϊν που αγοράσατε έχει σχεδιαστεί και

κατασκευαστεί µε τισ υψηλτερεσ προδιαγραφέσ

ποιτητασ. Ωστσο, αν συναντήσετε το

παραµικρ πρβληµα µε τη λειτουργία του, η

B&W Group Ltd. και οι αντιπρσωποί τησ σε λεσ

τισ χώρεσ σασ παρέχουν εγγύηση για δωρεάν

επισκευή (µε την πιθαντητα κάποιων

В этой инструкции описываются сабвуферы

CT SW10 и CT SW12, а также согласованный с

ними, дистанционно управляемый усилитель

мощности SA1000, предназначенный для монтажа

в стойку.

Введение

Уважаемый покупатель,

Спасибо, что вы выбрали Заказной домашний

театр Bowers and Wilkins – Custom Theatre.

С момента основания в 1966 году, философией

B&W постоянно оставалось стремление к самому

совершенному воспроизведению звука.

Вдохновленные основателем компании,

покойным Джоном Бауэрсом, его последователи

не только вложили много сил и средств в

развитие аудио технологий, но и неизменно

оценивали их влияние на воспроизведение кино

и музыки, с целью максимально эффективного

использования.

Акустические системы Custom Theatre

специально спроектированы так, чтобы

максимально слиться с обстановкой комнаты

прослушивания или же с заказной мебелью, как

часть концепции единого домашнего театра. Для

достижения этой цели, они оснащены

различными функциями, позволяющими им

адаптироваться к широкому спектру условий

инсталляции и обеспечивать великолепное

качество звука. Однако некоторые черты других

продуктов B&W не могут быть реализованы в

подобных условиях. В качестве примера можно

привести твитер на верху, что возможно только

для свободно стоящей колонки.

Более того, ввиду практики скрытной

инсталляции за акустически прозрачной тканью,

которая согласована с декором, все модели,

кроме одной, поставляются без защитных

решеток. Исключение составляет тыловая

колонка CT8 DS, которой необходимо выступать

в комнате наружу чтобы ее боковые динамики

могли работать нормально.

Не важно, насколько хороши акустические

системы сами по себе, они не смогут раскрыть

отдавать ток в нагрузку. Для того, чтобы

минимизировать влияние кабелей на частотную

характеристику до неощутимого на слух,

импеданс кабеля на всех частотах (при

последовательном соединении плюсового и

минусового проводников) должен выдерживаться

как можно более низким, и наверняка менее

0.1Ω. На низких частотах сопротивление кабеля

по постоянному току является доминирующим

фактором, и вы должны выбрать достаточно

большое сечение для достижения требуемого

импеданса для всех длин кабеля, которые вы

собираетесь использовать. На средних и высоких

частотах преобладает индуктивная

составляющая импеданса. Эти и другие свойства

влияют на особенности конструкции кабеля,

которые становятся все более и более важными.

Прогрев и приработка

Звучание акустических систем слегка меняется в

течение начального периода прослушивания.

Если колонка хранилась в холодном помещении,

то для демпфирующих материалов и подвеса

динамиков потребуется некоторое время на

восстановление механических свойств. Подвес

диффузора также слегка снижает свою

жесткость в течение первых часов работы.

Время, которое потребуется АС для полного

выхода на расчетные характеристики зависит от

условия хранения и интенсивности

использования. Как правило, потребуется неделя

на устранения температурных эффектов и около

15 часов на достижение механическими частями

желаемых характеристик.

К нам иногда поступают отзывы, что необходим

более длительный период приработки (например,

месяц), однако это, как правило, не имеет

отношения к изменениям в свойствах АС, а

скорее всего связано с привыканием слушателя к

новому для него звучанию. Это, прежде всего

относится к колонкам с высокой разрешающей

способностью, где слушателю может открыться

значительно большее количество деталей, чем

то, к которому он ранее привык; звучание

поначалу может показаться чересчур

«выпяченным» и немного трудным для

восприятия. Однако после более или менее

продолжительного времени вам покажется, что

звук стал мягче и приятнее, но без какой-нибудь

утери ясности и детальности.

Уход за колонками

Обычно корпуса колонок и эквалайзера CT8 XO

не требуют ничего, кроме очистки от пыли. Если

же вы захотите использовать аэрозоль для

чистки, то сначала удалите защитную решетку,

осторожно потянув ее за рамку. Распыляйте

аэрозоль на протирочную ткань, а не на корпус.

Проверьте действие аэрозоля сначала на

небольшом участке поверхности, т.к. некоторые

вещества могут вызвать изменение окраски.

Избегайте абразивных, кислотных, щелочных или

антибактериальных веществ. Избегайте

попадания моющих веществ на ткань защитной

решетки, т.к. на ней могут остаться пятна. Ткань

решеток можно чистить обычной одежной щеткой

или же насадкой для пылесоса.

При установке грилей (защитных решеток) на

место проследите, чтобы штифты были точно

совмещены с приемными отверстиями в корпусе,

прежде чем надавить на них.

Избегайте касания диффузоров динамиков,

особенно твитеров, т.к. это может привести к их

повреждению.

Ограниченная

гарантия

Данное изделие было разработано и произведено

в соответствии с высочайшими стандартами

качества. Однако, при обнаружении какой-либо

неисправности, компания B&W Group Ltd. и её

национальные дистрибьюторы гарантируют

бесплатный ремонт (существуют некоторые

исключения) и замену частей в любой стране,

обслуживаемой официальным дистрибьютором

компании B&W.

Данная ограниченная гарантия действительна на

период одного года со дня приобретения изделия

конечным потребителем.

Условия гарантии

оборудования. Затраты по перевозке и любые

другие затраты, а также риск при

отключении, перевозке и инсталлировании

изделий не покрываются данной гарантией.

2 Действие данной гарантии распространяется

только на первоначального владельца.

Гарантия не может быть передана другому

лицу.

3 Данная гарантия распространяется только на

те неисправности, которые вызваны

дефектными материалами и/или дефектами

при производстве на момент приобретения и

не распространяется:

а. на повреждения, вызванные неправильной

инсталляцией, подсоединением или

упаковкой,

б. на повреждения, вызванные использованием,

19. Vyãaduje-li za_ízení opravu, je nutné pouãít

poãáru, úrazu el. proudem #i jinému nebezpe#í.

20. Je-li za_ízení vybaveno noãi#kami ve form>

hrotÅ, dejte pozor aby tyto hroty nepo|kodily

nap_íklad kabely vedoucí pod kobercem. P_ístroj

na hrotech neposunujte #i nenakláp>jte, mohlo

by dojít k vylomení hrotÅ ze základny. P_i

manipulaci bud’te opatrní, aby jste se o hroty

neporanili.

21. V za_ízení se smí pouãívat jen pojistek v≥robcem

p_edepsan≥ch hodnot a typu, jinak hrozí

nebezpe#í poãáru. Pojistky se nacházejí jak

uvnit_ p_ístroje, tak na jeho zadním panelu.

Pojistky uvnit_ smí vym>[ovat pouze

autorizovan≥ servis. Hodnoty a typ uãivatelsky

vym>niteln≥ch na zadním panelu jsou uvedeny

ve specifikacích.

22. Z hlediska bezpe#nosti by m>l b≥t p_ístroj

umíst>n tak, aby byl kdykoli moãn≥ p_ístup k

sít’ové zásuvce ve které je zapojen napájecí

kabel a bylo tak moãné p_ístroj kdykoli b>hem

provozu odpojit od sít>.

23. Tento produkt smí b≥t pouãíván jen ve spojení s

takovou elektrickou sítí, která odpovídá

specifikacím uveden≥m na zadním panelu

p_ístroje v blízkosti vstupu napájecího kabelu.

Pokud si nejste parametry va|í sít> jisti, porad’te

se s va|ím prodejcem #i z_izovatelem va|í el.

24. Nep_et>ãujte va|e elektrické zásuvky

zapojováním více za_ízení najednou pomocí

rÅzn≥ch rozbo#ova#Å nebo prodluãovacích

kabelÅ s mnoha zásuvkami. Mohlo by dojít k

poãáru #i úrazu el. proudem.

25. Magnetické vyza_ování – tento v≥robek

produkuje stálé magnetické pole. Neumist’ujte

proto p_edm>ty které by magnetické pole mohlo

po|kodit (televizory a po#íta#ové monitory s

klasickou vakuovou obrazovkou, magnetofonové

a video pásky atd.) do vzdálenosti men|í neã

0,5m. Plazmov≥m a LCD monitorÅm toto

magnetické pole nevadí.

26. Montáã – neumist’ujte toto za_ízení na nestabilní

podstavce, trojnoãky #i stolky. Mohlo by dojít k

váãnému po|kození p_ístroje, nap_íklad z

dÅvodu jeho pádu. V≥robek umist’ujte vãdy jen

takov≥m zpÅsobem, jak≥ doporu#uje v≥robce.

Nevystavujte p_ístroj pÅsobení de|t> a nepouãívejte

jej v blízkosti vody #i ve vlhkém prost_edí. Také

p_ístroj neumist’ujte do blízkosti nádob s tekutinami,

ze kter≥ch by se mohla po jejich p_evrácení tekutina

rozlít.

P_i nastavování za_ízení dbejte, aby byl konektor

napájecího kabelu zapojen≥ v AC zásuvce dob_e

p_ístupn≥. Zjistíte-li n>jakou závadu v chování

p_ístroje, okamãit> jej vypn>te sít’ov≥m vypína#em a

poté odpojte napájecí kabel ze zásuvky. M>jte na

pam>ti, ãe je-li p_ístroj vypnut sít’ov≥m vypína#em ale

napájecí kabel není odpojen, jsou n>které #ásti

za_ízení stále pod proudem. Nebudete-li p_ístroj del|í

dobu pouãívat, odpojte jej rad>ji od napájecí zásuvky.

reprosoustavy pro náro#né. Jiã od dob zakladatele

spole#nosti, Johna Bowerse, neinvestuje spole#nost

pouze do inovací v audio technologiích, ale snaãí se

porozum>t také nov≥m trendÅm v poslechu hudby a

sledování filmÅ – to v|e proto, aby zajistila

maximální efektivitu sv≥ch v≥robkÅ v t>chto

náro#n≥ch aplikacích.

Reprosoustavy _ady Custom Theatre jsou specieln>

navrãeny pro zabudování do struktury poslechové

místnosti #i do na zakázku vyrobeného nábytku tak,

aby se staly sou#ástí uceleného konceptu domácího

desce ozvu#nice, jenã má smysl pouze u voln>

stojících reprosoustav. Navíc, protoãe p_i

zákaznick≥ch instalacích se reprosoustavy

zabudovávají a pak obvykle p_ekr≥vají látkou ladící s

okolním dekorem, jsou v|echny modely této _ady –

Tou v≥jimkou je surroundová reprosoustava CT8 DS,

Jelikoã jsou reprosoustavy _e|eny jako semi-aktivní a

vyãadují aktivní vyhybku, musí b≥t k zesílení signálu

kaãdého pásma pouãit separátní kanál zesilova#e.

Kaãdá reprosoustava CT8 LR, CT8 CC a CT8 DS

tedy vyãaduje dva kanály zesilova#e, nebo t_i pokud

je k ní pouãit je|t> subwoofer CT8 SW. To dovoluje

uãivateli maximální flexibilitu p_i v≥b>ru za_ízení.

Subwoofer CT8 SW nemá na rozdíl od v>t|iny dnes

prodávan≥ch b>ãn≥ch subwooferÅ zabudován svÅj

vlastní zesilova#.

Originální koncept domácího kina, zaloãen≥ na

rÅzn≥ch Dolby Digital a DTS systémech, zastává

koncepci p>ti #i více hlavních kanálÅ, plus jeden

kanál nízkofrekven#ních efektÅ (Low Frequency

Effects – LFE). Hlavní kanály obsahují signál v celém

frekven#ním rozsahu a LFE kanál obsahuje specielní

efekty do zhruba 140Hz. Protoãe _ada uãivatelÅ

SW p_idán dle poãadavku ke kaãdému z hlavních

kanálÅ a mÅãe roz|í_it jeho reprodukci basÅ pod

20Hz. Doporu#ujeme jej minimáln> pro lev≥ a prav≥

p_ední kanál, pro zachování sm>rov≥ch informací v

souvislosti s d>jem na plátn> a zárove[ správnému

zobrazení prostoru u dvoukanálového sterea.

"ím více z dal|ích kanálÅ doplníme subwooferem,

tím lep|í bude akustick≥ prostorov≥ vjem. Pokud je

ozvu#ovaná místnost velká a je pro realistick≥ vjem

t_eba docílit v>t|í hlasitosti, lze pouãít pro kaãd≥ z

hlavních kanálÅ aã dva subwoofery (zde je t_eba

upozornit, ãe p_idání více subwooferÅ ke kterémukoli

z hlavních kanálÅ, vyãaduje pro zachování

frekven#ní vyváãenosti zvuku provést u tohoto

kanálu nastavení v≥stupní úrovn> subwooferu na

CT8 XO).

LFE kanál pak mÅãe b≥t distribuován do v|ech

hlavních kanálÅ, jenã mají k sob> p_i_azen

subwoofer, coã lze docílit jednoduch≥m

konfigurováním na surround procesoru – sta#í zadat,

ãe není pouãit subwoofer. Zjednodu|en> _e#eno –

obvyklá funkce „No subwoofer“ (subwoofer není)

zde znamená „nepouãíváme subwoofer ur#en≥ jen

pro LFE kanál“.

Bezpe#nostní upozorn>ní!

Systém CT800 je schopen vyvinout velmi

vysok≥ akustick≥ tlak. P_íli| dlouhé

vystavování se t>mto akustick≥m tlakÅm

mÅãe zpÅsobit do#asné, pozd>ji i trvalé

po|kození sluchu. Nep_ekra#ujte tedy doporu#ované

hodnoty Leq (ekvivalent zvukové úrovn>)

specifikované nap_íklad v ISO 1999:1990.

P_ipojená za_ízení

Reprosoustavy t>chto schopností si zaslouãí signál

té nejvy||í kvality. Vybírejte tedy svou elektroniku a

propojovací kabely pe#liv>. P_i v≥b>ru vám mÅãeme

pomoci radami na co se zam>_it, nemÅãeme vám

ale jednozna#n> doporu#it n>jaké produkty. Úrove[

t>chto za_ízení se neustále vyvíjí a vá| prodejce

bude jist> schopen vám p_edvést a navrhnout rÅzné

aktuální varianty.

Ve specifikacích doporu#ujeme rozmezí v≥konu

zesilova#e. Vy||í hodnota p_edstavuje nejvy||í

v≥kon, se kter≥m je reprosoustava schopna

pracovat. Po#ítáme p_itom s údajem, kdy se

zesilova# nedostává do limitace, jenã by zkreslovala

signál a kdy signálem je b>ãn> p_ehrávan≥ materiál.

Nemyslíme tím testovací tóny z oscilátoru a

podobn>. Niã|í hodnota je pak minimum, které

doporu#ujeme pro kvalitní reprodukci bez

sly|itelného zkreslení v men|ích místnostech (mén>

neã 60 m3). "ím v>t|ím v≥konem zesilova#

disponuje, tím men|í je riziko ãe se bude dostávat

do limitace.

Jak dobr≥ zesilova# je vám trochu napoví pom>r

mezi v≥konem udávan≥m do zát>ãe 4 a 8 ohmÅ (4Ω

a 8Ω). "ím více je pom>r t>chto hodnot m>_ítku 2:1,

tím lep|í budou proudové schopnosti zesilova#e.
