English
The Volt Stick Bright is a non-contact voltage tester with
integrated flashlight, designed to quickly test for the presence
of an AC Voltage within close proximity to the user. Without
making metallic contact, the instrument will test for an AC
voltage on cables, fuses, sockets etc. If the test object is
energized, the tip of the instrument will illuminate in bright red
light and an acoustic signal will sound.
As a unique feature, the instrument is based on micro
processor technology, and contains several special features:
• Automatic Battery Test
• Automatic Self Test
• Two user-selectable sensitivities (230V AC and 20V
AC); with the possibility of extra high sensitivity
(special order, factory set)
• Powerful flashlight, with auto shutoff capability
User manual
Volt Stick Bright is ready to use at all times. Place the
instrument tip on the surface of the test object. If voltage in
the selected range is present, the tip of the instrument
illuminates with a bright red light and the acoustic alarm will
sound.
High sensitivity – Voltage range 2
If high sensitivity for detection of voltage as low as 20V AC is
required, the button is pushed and held for approximately 2
seconds before release. The instrument will indicate high
sensitivity mode, with a short flash of light every 3 seconds.
After 45 seconds without voltage detection, the instrument
will return to normal 230V AC sensitivity. Alternatively, the
button can be pushed and held for 2 seconds to manually
switch back to normal 230V AC sensitivity. One short flash of
light will indicate when the switch to normal sensitivity is
performed and two flashes when the switch to high sensitivity
is performed.
Flashlight
Push the button briefly to turn the flashlight on and off. The
flashlight will also turn off after 30 seconds without voltage
detection.

Battery check
When the instrument is activated by voltage detection, the
red light will flash quickly five times if the batteries need
changing.
The batteries can be changed by unscrewing the battery cap
at the opposite end to the test tip. Then the battery holder
can be pulled out of the instrument. Change the batteries,
reinsert the battery holder and screw the battery cap back
on. Please be careful not to damage the two metallic contact
buttons when removing the battery holder from the
instrument.
If the instrument is not to be used for an extended period of
time, the batteries should be removed to prevent battery
leakage inside the instrument.
Function test
The instrument is equipped with an automatic function test
which is activated each time the button is pressed. If the
Morse code for ‘SOS’ sounds (three short, three long, three
short), then a malfunction has been detected. The function
test also includes the input from the test tip. This malfunction
can be temporary or permanent, e.g. if the instrument has
been penetrated by moisture to the electronics. In this case
the instrument will no longer be functional. The alarm signal
can also occur if the button is pushed while the instrument is
activated by an electric field. This is not a malfunction, and
can be resolved by removing the instrument from the voltage
source, and pushing the button once more. If the alarm
signal is not sounded this time, the instrument is functional.
Notice
Circular cables often contain twisted wires. Move the Volt
Stick Bright along the cable to ensure that the phase
conductor gets close to the test tip. A Fuse test in a 3 phase
system can only be performed if machines and other
appliances alike are turned off. If not turned off, the voltage
can be carried to the blown fuse from the backside, making
troubleshooting impossible. Some rubber cable insulation
contains a lot of carbon, making voltage detection
impossible. Voltage detection is not possible on shielded or
