C18 Multiuser Wall Control
With the C18 Multiuser Wall Control, commands (IR triggers) can be sent to the Multiuser
system that are stored in the Multiuser Server. The function is defined in the Configurator
itself. In addition, a different behaviour can be defined between a short and a long
keystroke.
Via the integrated IR receiver (to the left of the power button), infrared codes (RC5) can be
received from IR remote controls and forwarded to the Multiuser System for IR triggers.
With the help of the DIL switches on the back of the wall-mounted keypad, different RC5
addresses can be selected in case of IR conflicts with other remote controls/devices.
Command overview

** RC5 code is combined with current user/source address, i.e. if user 2 (address 21) was selected last, e.g. the volume_up
command is also assigned address 21 and an RC5 command [21] [16] is sent.
Checking of RC5 command
The defined RC5 codes can be checked through the display on the Multiuser amplifier M30 or V219. The infrared mode
can be selected with its Setup button, the received signals from the IR Link inputs can be detected and its RC5 address and
command can be displayed.

DIL switch
With the introduction of SW version 218-2 1.00 (Multiuser Programmer Software), there is a code page option for the C18
Multiuser Wall Control. 4 different code pages can be selected via DIL switches 3 and 4 on the back of the C18 wall keypad.
To do this, dismantle the wall control and remove the plastic cover on the back. The desired code page can now be set
with a small screwdriver. Please observe the current ESE regulations when the cover is open so as not to damage the
electronics.

Cabeling
The C18 wall control unit is connected to the Multiuser amplifier via a 3-pole screwable connector. When wiring, make
sure that the shielding of a CAT cable (S/FTP, F/FTP) is connected to the GND line on both sides. In addition, a pair of wires
for one signal should be connected together. Both measures increase the cable cross-section and thus reduce the voltage
drop in the cable. With this cabling variant, cable lengths of up to 100 m can be realised. Alternatively, a data cable of type
U72 (1x4x0.5 mm2) can be used.
Parallel operation
In larger rooms, it may make sense to place two C18 wall-mounted keypads at different locations in the room. 2 C18s may
be operated in parallel, i.e. all 3 signal lines (GND, IR, VCC) are connected in parallel.
To avoid double commands when using remote controls, if both wall-mounted keypads could receive the IR signal, it is
recommended to deactivate the IR receiver for of the two C18 wall-mounted keypads. This is set via a DIL switch (DIL one
1) on the back of the wall-mounted keypad - see illustration above.
The IR link, including the trigger-out of the multiuser amplifier, may be loaded with a maximum of 80 mA. The nominal
current requirement of a C18 is 23 mA.
