Please note
GRUNDIG Environmental Initiative
You will certainly have noticed,
that we have completely avoided the use of
plastic for the packaging of the car radio.
All packaging elements are of
cardboard/paper and may be disposed of in
existing paper recycling systems.
Installation of the unit
These operating instructions assume that
your unit has been correctly connected and
installed by your dealer.
If you wish to install the unit yourself,
please be sure to observe the information in
the chapter “Installation and removal”
beginning on page 13 as well as the
illustrations at the beginning of the manual.
Identity card
The identity card for your car radio contains
its car radio type, serial number and code
number (see illustration at back of manual).
The serial number is identical to the number
embossed onto the car radio.
The identity card facilitates criminal investiga-
tion by the police in case of radio theft and
speeds settlement of an insurance claim by
providing evidence of ownership.
Keep the card in a safe place, out of reach of
unauthorised persons.
Code label
The code label, placed on the inside of the car
window for high visibility, shows everyone:
the car radio is worthless to thieves!
Traffic safety
Please familiarise yourself with the various
functions of your car radio before you start to
drive.
Volume
Operating your radio at high volume while dri-
ving can endanger you and others. Therefore,
always adjust the volume so that you can still
safely hear outside noises (e.g., car horns,
police and emergency vehicles, etc.).
Telephone connection (mute)
Connect the car telephone or CB radio with
the telephone connection on the car radio (see
page 13, supply voltages: A2... telephone
connection).
The car radio is “muted” during the car
phone's or CB radio's operation.

Please note
Switching on and off
– with the ignition /starter switch
You can use the car's ignition/starter switch
to switch the radio on and off with the
r
multi-function control (see page 13, supply
voltages:
A4…+12V Stand-by voltage).
– car radio
You can use the r-multi-function control to
switch the car radio on and off when the car
radio ...
– is turned on with the ignition/starter switch,
or
– is not connected to the ignition/starter
switch.
Car radio fuse
Figure ü
at the beginning of the manual.
Flat fuse T 5 A/DIN 72581 (plugged).
Release System (RS)
The most effective anti-theft measure:
when you leave your vehicle,
“take the car radio with you”.
The double anti-theft measure:
activate coding (page 11).
The car radio is in the vehicle and, after being
removed, secure.
Removing the car radio
To swing out the carrying strap, press one of
the pressure points
1(illustration is located
on the fold-out page at the beginning of the
manual).
Insert the car radio
until the radio catch engages.
When the coding is activated:
it can be put into operation again (page 11).
Blocking the release system
Screw the threaded screws into both ope-
nings 2of the carrying strap with an allen key
(illustration is located on the fold-out page at
the beginning of the manual).
The car radio cannot be removed.
Coding
Your personal code number (code no.) is
found on your car radio's identity card.
When you have “activated” the coding of
your unit
As soon as you have removed the car radio or
separated it from your car battery supply
(permanent plus, terminal 30) it is then
electronically blocked.
Only you are able to unlock it again and put it
into operation by entering your personal code
number (code no.) (return to operation,
page 11).
Therefore: (page 11).activate the coding
SECURITY LED display
The LED display flashes under the display
if, …
– the coding is activated
(page 11),
– the LED display function is switched on
(page 13) and
– the car radio was switched off with the
ignition/starter switch in the vehicle
(page 3) or with the multi-function control.
