Safety
• Always disconnect themachine from themains power supply before servicing,
adjusting or cleaningit. Themotor will continue to rotate ashort while after
themachine has been turnedoff.
• Themotor must be in operation when theanvil plate is adjusted, refer to Note:
the sectionbelow.Adjusting theanvil plate
• If themains lead is damaged it must only be replaced by aqualified electrician.
• Themachine may be used by children of 8 years and above and by persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capability or lack of experience and
knowledge provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
theuse of themachine in asafe manner and understand thehazards involved.
• Theoperator is responsible for thesafety of third parties within theworkingarea.
• Thegarden shredder most be placed on afirm and level surface.
• Use gloves, hearing protection, aface or dust mask and safety goggles or visor
when using themachine.
• Never let children play with themachine. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not
be made by children without supervision.
• Make sure that themachine is completely and correctly assembled before
connecting it to thepower supply.
• Never insert your hands into thehopper.
• Never wear loose clothing or jewellery which might get caught in thematerial being
fed into thehopper. Wearprotective hair covering to contain longhair.
General safety guidelines
• Themachine must never be used if it is in any way damaged or malfunctioning.
Neveruse anextension cable that is in any way damaged.
• Themachine must only be used as described in this instruction manual.
• Be careful to ensure that no foreign objects (stones, cans, pieces of metal, etc)
arefed into thehopper by accident.
• Never work in dark or poor light conditions.
• Make sure that you are standing steady and well balanced when using themachine.
• Never leave themachine unattended when it is connected to thepower supply.

• Always switch themachine off and disconnect it from thepower supply before
moving it to anew location.
• Never operate themachine in therain. Donot expose themachine torain.
• Always keep other people at asafe distance from thework area, especially whilst
operating themachine. Children and animals should not be allowed in theworkarea.
• Check regularly for damage and that all screws aretight.
• Themachine should only be connected to a220–240 V, 50/60 Hz mains outlet
protected by a30 mA residual current device (RCD).
• Any extension cables used must be suitable for outdoor use and have arating of
at least H07RN-F and aminimum conductor cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm² (e.g.
a3G1.5 mm² cable). Iftheextension lead has too small aconductor cross sectional
area themachine’s performance will be reduced considerably. Forleads under 25m
in length aminimum conductor cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm² is required, for
cables over 25 m in length thecross-sectional area must be at least 2.5 mm².
• If themachine should start making any unusual noise or vibration, immediately
switch off, allow thecutter to stop, unplug themachine. Investigate thecause of
theproblem and remedy it before operating themachineagain.
• Themachine should only be repaired by qualified service technicians using original
replacementparts.
Safety symbols

themachine. Ensurethat theblades have stopped completely before
servicing, transporting,etc.

Caution: Thereis arisk of material being thrown forcefully from

it torain.
