The Bleep Labs Sensory Coupler
In the kit:
The Sensory Coupler. 6hp 60mA at standard LED brightness,
180mA fully bright. 12V, 5mA -12V, no 5V.
Phototransistor sensor board
Hall (magnetic) sensor board
Accelerometer sensor board
120 cm long TRS cable
12 cm long bendy TRS cable
25mm alligator clip cable for touch sensor
Donut magnet for hall sensor
All i/o is buffered and protected. Touch sensor is also protected.
The input is TRS and intended only for sensors but you can make
your own. Pinout:
Tip - 3.3V supply
Ring - 0 to 3.3V sensor input
Sleeve - ground.

Getting started
Calibrating reads the high and low value of the sensor readings
and maps them to the full 0-10V output.
Press CAL and give the sensor a full range of input. The LED
next to the CAL button will blink and the LED strip will show a
red indicator of the current sensor value. When a new value that
is higher than the current high level is received, a white light will
blink at the top of the strip. For a new low value the bottom of the
strip will blink.
For example when using the touch sensor press calibrate and
move away from the module at least a foot. Then touch the
contact as hard as you would wille using the device.
For a light sensor, cover it and then shine a light on it.
Press calibrate again to go back to normal operation.
Calibration data is saved when the device turns off and is reset
when something is plugged into or removed from the sensor
jack.
Hold CAL to clear the calibration data. The light next to CAL will
turn off to show that the device is in raw input mode.
Jacks
SENSOR - TRS sensor interface. When nothing is
plugged into the jack the device will use the touch sensor
as the sensor input.
CV - 0-10V CV output
GATE - Outputs high when sensor level is above
threshold or when sensor level is inside threshold range
!GATE - Outputs digital opposite of GATE. High when
selsor level is below threshold or outside of range
Controls
THRESHOLD - Sets threshold level, displayed as a
white dot. When ADJ is held down and the THRESHOLD
is adjusted, the threshold’s range can be adjusted,
displayed by a white line.
SMOOTH - When the know is at 12:00 there is no
smoothing of the incoming sensor level. The LED
displaying the sensor value is light blue to green in this
mode.
As you turn to the right of 12:00 the sensor value will be
more and more smoothed out. The LED will be blue in
this mode
As you turn the knob left from 12:00 the device will be in
envelope follower mode where output will rise
immediately to a higher sensor reading but fall at a rate
determined by the knob. The LED will be purple in this
more
CAL - Calibrate sensor readings. Different sensors and
environments will result in different voltage outputs from
the sensors. CAlibration is necessary to take the
readings and convert them into a 0-10V output .
Press this button to enter and exit calibration mode. The
LED next to the button will blink and the LED strip will
show a red indicator of the current sensor value. When a
new value that is higher than the current high level is
received, a white light will blink at the top of the strip. For
a new low value the bottom of the strip will blink.
