READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE USING THIS PRODUCT
Throughout this manual the words appliance, cooker, fryer/boiler, burner and stove
will be used interchangeable to refer to the Backyard Pro Outdoor Ranges and Cookers.
IF YOU SMELL GAS:
1. Shut o gas to the appliance.
2. Exnguish any open ame.
3. If odor connues, keep away from the appliance
and immediately call your Fire Department.
1. This is an ATTENDED appliance. DO NOT leave this appliance unaended while the burner is
lit or while heang oil, grease, water or cooking food. Monitor the appliance when hot aer
use (oil, grease or water above 100°F (38°C)). Heated liquid and equipment can remain at
scalding temperatures long aer cooking has ended.
2. Keep children, pets and unauthorized persons away from the appliance at all mes.
3. The use of alcohol, prescripon or non-prescripon drugs may impair your ability to properly
assemble or safely operate this appliance. DO NOT assemble or operate this appliance if
using alcohol, prescripon or non-prescripon drugs.
4. This appliance is for OUTDOOR use only. DO NOT use in a building, garage, tent or any other
enclosed area. DO NOT use in or on a recreaonal vehicle or boat. NEVER use this appliance
as a heater.
5. DO NOT locate this appliance under ANY overhead construcon. Keep a minimum clearance
of 10. (3.05m) from the sides, front and back of the appliance to ANY construcon. Keep
the area clear of any combusble material. Do not use on or under any apartment or condo
balcony or deck.
6. When cooking, the fryer/boiler must be on a level, stable, noncombusble surface such as
brick, concrete or dirt. Not suitable are surfaces such as wood, asphalt or plasc which may
burn, blister or melt.
7. Check all cooker ngs for leaks before each use. Keep the fuel supply hose away from any
heated surfaces. Only the LP hose/regulator assembly specied by Backyard Pro should be
used with this appliance.
8. When cooking with oil or grease, a reliable thermometer MUST be used. Follow instrucons
in this manual for proper installaon and use of thermometer.
9. If the temperature of cooking oil exceeds 350°F (177°C) or if oil begins to smoke,
immediately turn the burner or gas supply OFF and wait for the temperature to decrease to
less than 350°F (177°C) before relighng burner according to the instrucons in this manual.
10. When cooking with oil/grease, have a Type BC or ABC re exnguisher readily available. In
the event of an oil/grease re, do not aempt to exnguish with water. Immediately call the
Fire Department. A Type BC or ABC re exnguisher may, in some circumstances, contain
the re.
12. NEVER overll the cooking pot with oil, grease or water. Follow instrucons in this manual
for establishing proper oil, grease or water levels.

Warnings
13. Introducon of water or ice from any source into the oil/grease may cause overow and
severe burns from hot oil and water splaer. When frying with oil/grease, all food products
MUST be completely thawed and towel dried before being immersed in the fryer.
14. Never drop food or accessories into hot cooking liquid. Lower food and accessories slowly
into the cooking liquid in order to prevent splashing or overow. When removing food from
the appliance, care shall be taken to avoid burns from hot cooking liquids.
15. This appliance and pot, including handles and lids, get dangerously hot in use. Use well-
insulated pot holders or oven mis for protecon from hot surfaces or splaer from cooking
liquids. Safety goggles are also recommended to protect you from oil splaer. The oil
remains dangerously hot hours aer use.
16. DO NOT place an empty cooking vessel on the appliance while in operaon. Use cauon
when placing anything in the cooking vessel while the appliance is in operaon. Never use a
cooking vessel larger than the capacity and diameter specied in this manual.
17. In the event of rain, snow, hail, sleet or other forms of precipitaon while cooking with oil/
grease, cover the cooking vessel immediately and turn o the appliance burners and gas
supply. Do not aempt to move the appliance or cooking vessel.
18. DO NOT move the appliance when in use. Allow the cooking vessel to cool to 100°F (38°C)
before moving or storing.
19. Avoid bumping of or impact with the appliance to prevent contact with hot appliance,
spillage or splashing of hot cooking liquid.
20. See Use and Care secon for LP Gas Cylinder informaon. A 20 lb. (9 kg) cylinder should be
used with this cooker. The LP-gas supply cylinder used must have a protecve collar and
must be constructed and marked in accordance with the specicaons for LP-gas cylinders
of the U.S. Department of Transportaon (DOT) or the Naonal Standard of Canada, CAN/
CSA-B339, Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for the Transportaon of Dangerous Goods. DO
NOT store a spare LP-gas cylinder under or near this appliance. Never ll the cylinder
beyond 80% full. For proper vapor withdrawal, the 20 lb. (9 kg) cylinder should be used in
the proper upright posion. Cylinder must be turned o while not in use. Failure to follow
these instrucons and warnings could result in re or explosion which could cause property
damage, personal injury or death.
21. Use Backyard Pro appliances only in accordance with state and local ordinances, or in the
absence of local codes, with the Naonal Fuel Gas Code, ANSIZ223.1/NFPA 54, Storage
and Handling of Liquied Petroleum Gases, ANSI/NFPA 58 or CSA B149.1, Natural Gas and
Propane Installaon Code.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN FIRE, EXPLOSION, BURN
HAZARD OR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING WHICH COULD CAUSE
PROPERTY DAMAGE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH.
! WARNING !
NOTE
Most Backyard Pro outdoor ranges come standard as painted. During inial start-up and rst
use, you may experience some burn-in of the range and that includes unpleasant fumes and
discoloraon of the burner. Please note that this is normal and aer 10-15 minutes the unit will
be ready for use. Do not use in an enclosed area under any circumstances.
