How the System Works

Now you can experience the difference a Remote Trainer can make. Spend

less time training and more time enjoying your dog. The PetSafe

350 m/900 m Series (Little Dog Deluxe Remote Trainer/Big Dog Deluxe

Remote Trainer) Remote Trainers are comfortable for your pet and easy

to use with an advanced digital display that tells you exactly what level of

stimulation you are using.

The Remote Trainer assists you in controlling your pet without a lead in

a range of either 350 or 900 metres. At the push of a button, your remote

sends a signal activating your dog’s Receiver Collar. He receives a safe

but annoying stimulation. He’ll quickly learn the association between his

behaviour and your correction; in no time, you’ll have a better-behaved pet.

The PetSafe

350 m/900 m Series Remote Trainers has been proven safe,

comfortable, and effective for both small and large dog breeds.

Important: This Series of Remote Trainers has a range of up to 350 or

900 metres. Depending on the way you hold the Remote Transmitter, the

maximum range may vary. Terrain, weather, vegetation, transmission from

other radio devices, and other factors will affect the maximum range.

Receiver Indicator Light: Indicates when the Receiver Collar has been

turned on or off and also serves as a low-battery indicator.

Charging Jacks: For connecting the charger. The Remote Transmitter and

Receiver Collar are waterproof without the charger covers. However, keep the

charger covers in place when not charging to keep debris out of the openings.

Continuous Stimulation: You control when and how long Stimulation is

delivered to your dog through the Receiver Collar’s Contact Points. When a

Continuous Stimulation button is pressed for 8 seconds or more, the Remote

Transmitter will “time-out.” The button will need to be released and pressed

again before additional Stimulation can be delivered.

Positive Tone: Use the Positive Tone as a marker to reinforce positive

behaviour. Again, timing is critical. Praise or treat the dog immediately

following the Positive Tone.

Note: The Battery Indicator will scroll while charging and will

become solid when fully charged.

Turning ON the Transmitter

Power up the Transmitter by pressing any button. You will see the

display turn on when you press any button.

Transmitter Digital Display

The display stays on for 10 minutes after a button press. After 10

minutes with no button presses, the display shuts off and the transmitter

goes into battery conservation mode. Pressing any button will cause

the display to turn back on. The various symbols you might see on the

display are explained below.

Battery Indicator

Battery is at 2⁄3 to Full capacity. Transmitter is

fully functional.

Battery is at 1⁄3 capacity. Transmitter is still

fully functional.

Battery is at 1⁄6 capacity. Transmitter will

operate the Receiver, but recharge the

Transmitter battery as soon as possible.

Battery is almost dead. Transmitter is unable

to operate the Receiver.

When the Battery Indicator shows the low battery symbol (1/6 capacity),

recharge your Transmitter soon. When just the battery outline is displayed,

the Transmitter’s battery is unable to power transmissions to the Receiver.

Transmitter must be recharged to regain operation.

+2 Boost

A press of the +2 Boost button sends a signal to the collar to issue a correction

that is 2 levels higher than the currently selected level. For example, if the

correction level is set at Level 2, a touch of the +2 Boost control will correct at

Level 4. The system will not correct higher than level 10.

Once the Receiver Collar has been turned on, press the Upper Left button 3. of the Remote Transmitter. Upon pressing, the Receiver Collar should beep

for as long as the Upper Left button is pressed. If it does not, see “To Pair

the Remote Transmitter and the Receiver Collar”. Note: To extend the life of

the battery, turn the Receiver Collar off when it is not in use.

Step

Fit the Receiver Collar

Important: The proper ﬁt and placement of your Receiver

Collar is important for effective operation. The Contact

Points must have direct contact with your dog’s skin on

the underside of his neck.

To assure a proper ﬁt, please follow

these steps:

1. Make sure that the Receiver Collar is

turned off.

2. Start with your dog standing

comfortably (3A).

3. Place the Receiver Collar on your dog’s

neck close to the

ears. Centre the

underneath your

dog’s neck, touching

the skin (3B).

Note: It is sometimes

necessary to trim

the hair around

the Contact Points

to make sure that

contact is consistent.

4. Check the tightness of the Receiver Collar by inserting one

ﬁnger between the collar and your dog’s neck (3C). The ﬁt

should be snug but not constricting.

5. Allow your dog to wear the Receiver Collar for several minutes

then recheck the ﬁt. Check the ﬁt again as your dog becomes

more comfortable with the Receiver Collar. Note: If your dog is

young and you expect him/her to grow, you’ll want to leave excess

strap to adjust the collar fastening. Replacement straps are available

through our Customer Care Centre.

Find the Best Stimulation Level for

Your Pet

Important: Always start at the lowest level and work your

way up.

The Remote Trainer has 8 different Stimulation Levels. This

allows you to choose the Stimulation that is best for your pet.

Once you have placed the Receiver Collar on your pet, it is time

to ﬁnd the Stimulation Level that is best for him. This is called the

Recognition Level.

A slight change in your pet’s behaviour, such as looking around in

curiosity, scratching at his collar, or ﬂicking his ears, indicates the

Recognition Level that is best for him.

Follow the steps below to ﬁnd your pet’s Recognition Level:

Starting at Level 1 on the Digital Display, press the Stimulation 1.

button continuously for 1 to 2 seconds.

If your pet shows no reaction, repeat the Stimulation level 2.

several times before moving up to the next level.

YOUR PET SHOULD NOT VOCALIZE OR PANIC 3.

WHEN RECEIVING STIMULATION. IF THIS

If your pet continues to show no response at Level 8, check 5.

set of probes. Then go back to no. 1 and repeat the process. If

this still does not yield any results, your pet’s hair will need to

be trimmed around the Contact Points.

to show no reaction to the Stimulation, see the “Test Light

Instructions” section.

If after completing all of these steps your dog still does not

indicate he is feeling the Stimulation, please contact Customer

Care Centre or visit our website at www.petsafe.net.

Care and Cleaning

To ensure the effectiveness of this product and the comfort and

safety of your dog, check the ﬁt of his collar frequently. This

Operating Guide describes proper collar ﬁtting. If you notice

that your dog is experiencing skin irritation, discontinue use

of the collar for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48

hours, see your veterinarian.

To prevent skin irritation from occurring:

A condition called Pressure Necrosis, which is

a devitalization of the skin due to excessive and prolonged

contact against the contact points, may occur if the steps

To Pair the Remote Transmitter

and the Receiver Collar

If your Receiver Collar does not beep when the Upper Left

button of the Remote Transmitter is pressed, or if you feel the

Receiver Collar is not responding to the Remote Transmitter:

1. With the Receiver Collar off your pet, turn the Receiver

Collar off.

2. Press and hold the On/Off button for 5 seconds.

3. The Receiver Collar will beep and the LED will ﬂash.

4. Press any Transmitter button.

5. The Receiver Collar will respond and pair.

6. If the Receiver Collar does not beep twice, please contact the

Customer Care Centre. For a listing of Customer Care Centre

Note: Pairing is for Dog 1 only.

General Tips

Training Instructions

Eliminate one misbehaviour or teach one obedience command at a time. If s

you move too fast with training, your pet may become confused.

Be consistent. Correct your pet every time he misbehaves.s

Unless you can supervise him, it is recommended that you restrict your pet s

from situations in which he has a history of misbehaving. However, setting up

a situation as a training session can dramatically improve your

chances of success.

If your pet reacts to the tones by hiding or acting fearful, redirect his attention s

to a simple and appropriate behaviour, such as the “sit” command.

Pets should be at least 6 months old before using the Trainer.s

Only let responsible family members use the Trainer. It is not a toy!s

Other pets in hearing range will be affected by the training tones. Therefore, s

training sessions should be conducted out of hearing range of other pets.

Never use the Remote Trainer to correct or eliminate any form of aggressive s

behaviour. We recommend you contact your local veterinarian or professional

trainer to determine if your pet might be aggressive.

Teaching Your Pet the Positive Tone

Before using the Trainer to correct your pet, spend 10 to 15 minutes per

day for 2 or 3 days helping him create the association of the tone with

reward and praise. To accomplish this:

Push the Tone button for 2 consecutive seconds. 1.

Release the button and immediately reward your pet with verbal praise, 2.

petting, or a small food reward. Spend 3 to 5 seconds on

your rewarding.

Wait a few minutes and repeat holding the Tone button for 2 seconds 3.

following with praise.

Vary the reward to prevent your pet from anticipating a speciﬁc type.

This stage of training is complete when your pet obviously anticipates a

reward when he hears the positive tone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Stimulation

safe for my pet?

While the Stimulation is unpleasant, it is

harmless to your pet. Electronic training devices

require interaction and training from the owner

to achieve desired results.

How old does a pet

have to be before

using the PetSafe

350 m / 900 m

Series Remote

Trainers?

The system should only be used with pets who

are over 6 months of age. If your pet is injured

or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact

your veterinarian or professional trainer before

use. Your pet should be able to learn basic

obedience commands such as “Sit” or “Stay”.

Can I attach a lead

to the Receiver

Collar?

Do not attach a lead to the collar. This can

result in pulling the Contact Points too tightly

against your pet’s neck. Attach a lead to a

separate, non-metallic collar or harness, making

sure the extra collar does not put pressure on

the Contact Points.

Once my pet is

trained and has

been obeying my

commands, will he

have to continue to

wear the Receiver

Collar?

Probably not. He may need to wear the Receiver

Collar from time to time for reinforcement.

How long can

I continuously

deliver Stimulation

to my pet?

The maximum amount of time you can press

the Stimulation button and deliver Stimulation

to your pet continuously is 8 seconds. After eight

seconds, the Remote Transmitter will time-out,

and the Stimulation button must be released

and pressed again.

What do I do if

my pet’s neck

becomes red

and irritated?

This condition is due to the Contact Points

irritating the skin. Discontinue use of the

Receiver Collar for a few days. If the condition

persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

Once the skin returns to normal, replace Receiver

Collar, and monitor the skin condition closely.

You can verify the Receiver Collar is s

placing the Test Light, enclosed in your kit,

Increase the correction level. Refer to “Find s

the Best Stimulation Level For Your Pet” for

more information.

Make sure the Receiver Collar’s Contact s

Points are placed snugly against your pet’s

Voyant lumineux du récepteur : indique si le collier-récepteur est

éteint ou allumé et sert également de voyant de pile faible.

Prises de charge : servent à connecter le chargeur. Bien que l'émetteur

et le collier-récepteur soient étanches sans les caches de protection des

prises de charge, laissez les caches à leur place lorsque le chargeur n'est

pas branché pour éviter que des débris n'entrent.

Stimulation continue : vous contrôlez à quel moment et pendant

combien de temps la stimulation est transmise à votre chien via les

contacteurs du collier-récepteur. Lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton

stimulation continue pendant 8 secondes ou plus, l'émetteur se met en

veille. Il est nécessaire de relâcher le bouton et d'appuyer à nouveau

dessus pour qu'une nouvelle stimulation soit transmise.

Signal sonore positif : utilisez ce signal sonore pour encourager un

comportement positif. Il est essentiel de l'utiliser au bon moment.

Félicitez ou récompensez votre chien immédiatement après avoir utilisé

le signal sonore positif.

Relâcher le bouton On/Off. Le voyant vert clignote une fois toutes les 2. 5 secondes jusqu'à ce que le collier-récepteur soit éteint. Le voyant qui

clignote indique que le collier-récepteur est prêt à recevoir un signal radio

de l'émetteur.

Dès que le collier-récepteur est allumé, appuyez sur le bouton supérieur 3. gauche de l'émetteur. Le collier-récepteur doit émettre un signal sonore

tant que le bouton supérieur gauche reste enfoncé. Si vous n'entendez pas

de bip, consultez la section « Codage de l'émetteur et du collier-récepteur ».

1. Maintenir le bouton On/Off (marche/arrêt) enfoncé jusqu'à ce que le voyant rouge

soit allumé et que le collier-récepteur émette un bip allant de l'aigu au grave.

2. Relâcher le bouton On/Off. Pour allonger l'autonomie entre les charges, éteindre le

collier-récepteur lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé. La durée d'utilisation de la pile entre les

charges est d'environ 40 à 50 heures, en fonction de la fréquence d'utilisation.

Important:

Il est indispensable que le collier-récepteur

soit bien ajusté pour garantir son bon fonctionnement.

Les contacteurs doivent être en contact direct avec la

peau de l'animal sur la partie inférieure de son cou.

Pour que le collier soit bien ajusté, veuillez

suivre les étapes ci-dessous :

1. Vériﬁez que le collier-récepteur soit éteint.

2. Votre chien doit être en position debout (3A).

3. Placez le collier-récepteur sur votre chien,

à proximité de ses oreilles. Centrez

lescontacteurs sous le cou du chien pour

qu’ils touchent sa

peau (3B).

Remarque : Il est parfois

nécessaire de couper

les poils autour des

contacteurs pour garantir

un contact efﬁcace.

4. Vériﬁez que le collier-récepteur soit bien ajusté et que vous

pouvez passer un doigt entre le collier et le cou de votre chien

(3C). Le collier doit être bien serré mais sans excès.

5. Laissez votre chien porter le collier-récepteur pendant quelques

minutes, puis contrôlez à nouveau l'ajustement. Lorsque votre

chien s'est habitué au collier-récepteur, vériﬁez encore s'il est

bien ajusté. Remarque : Si votre chien est jeune et qu'il va grandir,

laissez une longueur de collier sufﬁsante pour l'ajuster ultérieurement.

Trouver le meilleur niveau de

stimulation pour votre chien

Important : Commencez toujours par le niveau le plus bas

et augmentez progressivement.

Le collier de dressage propose 8 niveaux de stimulation. Ceci vous

permet de choisir la stimulation convenant le mieux à votre chien.

Une fois que vous avez mis le collier-récepteur à votre chien, il

est temps de trouver le meilleur niveau stimulation pour lui. Ce

niveau est appelé le niveau de reconnaissance.

Un léger changement dans le comportement de votre animal, par

exemple s’il regarde autour de lui d’un air curieux, ou s’il se gratte

les oreilles, indique qu’il s’agit du meilleur niveau de stimulation

pour lui.

Suivez les étapes ci-dessous pour connaître le niveau de

reconnaissance de votre animal :

En commençant au niveau 1 sur l’écran numérique, maintenez le 1. bouton de stimulation enfoncé,pendant 1 ou 2 secondes.

Si votre animal ne réagit pas, renouvelez cette opération 2. plusieurs fois avant d’augmenter le niveau de stimulation.

VOTRE ANIMAL NE DOIT PAS ABOYER NI GÉMIR 3. OU PANIQUER À CAUSE DE LA STIMULATION. SI

C’EST LE CAS, LE NIVEAU DE STIMULATION EST

TROP ÉLEVÉ ET VOUS DEVEZ REDESCENDRE D’UN

NIVEAU AVANT DE RENOUVELER L’OPÉRATION.

Augmentez les niveaux de stimulation jusqu’à ce que votre 4. animal réponde de manière ﬁable à la stimulation.

Si votre animal ne réagit toujours pas au niveau 8, vériﬁez 5. que le collier-récepteur soit bien ajusté. Si votre chien a

un poil long ou dru, contactez notre Service clientèle pour

obtenir des contacteurs plus longs. Reprenez ensuite à l’étape

n°1 et renouvelez l’opération. Si vous n’obtenez toujours

aucun résultats, il faudra alors couper les poils de votre chien

autour des contacteurs.

Si vous avez suivi toutes ces étapes et que votre animal ne réagit

toujours pas à la stimulation, consultez la section « Instructions

relatives à la lampe test ».

chien 1 et le chien 2, appuyez sur le bouton « Booster +2 ».

Pour désactiver le mode à deux chiens sur l'émetteur

Maintenez le bouton Booster +2 enfoncé pendant

5 secondes. Appuyez sur le bouton inférieur droit

jusqu'à ce que le symbole « Dog 1 » apparaisse sur

l'écran. Appuyer sur le bouton « Booster +2 » pour

quitter le menu.

Codage de l'émetteur et du

collier-récepteur

Si votre collier-récepteur n'émet pas de signal sonore lorsque vous

appuyez sur le bouton supérieur gauche de l'émetteur, ou si vous

pensez que le collier-récepteur ne réagit pas à l'émetteur :

Éteignez le collier-récepteur après l'avoir enlevé de votre chien.

2. Maintenez le bouton On/Off enfoncé pendant 5 secondes.

3. Le collier-récepteur émet un signal sonore et le voyant DEL

clignote.

4. Appuyez sur un des boutons de l'émetteur.

5. Le collier-récepteur réagit et le codage est établi.

6. Si le collier-récepteur n'émet pas deux fois un signal sonore,

veuillez contacter le Service clientèle. Pour connaître les

est-elle sans

danger pour mon

Même si la stimulation est désagréable, elle reste

sans danger pour votre chien. Les dispositifs de

dressage électroniques nécessitent l'interaction

et le dressage de l'animal pour obtenir les

résultats escomptés.

Quel âge doit avoir

Ce système ne doit être utilisé qu’avec des

animaux âgés de plus de 6 mois. Si votre animal

est blessé ou éprouve des difﬁcultés à se déplacer,

veuillez contacter votre vétérinaire ou un dresseur

professionnel avant toute utilisation. Votre chien

doit être capable d'apprendre les ordres de base,

comme « Assis » et « Pas bouger ».

Est-il possible

d’attacher une

laisse au collier

récepteur?

N’attachez pas de laisse au collier. Les

contacteurs risqueraient alors d’exercer une

pression trop forte sur le cou de votre animal.

Attachez une laisse à un collier ou un harnais

non métallique distinct en vériﬁant que le collier

supplémentaire n’exerce aucune pression sur

les contacteurs.

Lorsque mon chien

est dressé et qu'il

obéit à mes ordres,

Probablement pas. Parfois, il devra peut-être le

porter à nouveau pour renforcer le dressage.

Pendant combien

de temps peut-on

administrer la

stimulation à un

chien ?

La durée maximale de stimulation en continu

est de 8 secondes. Après huit secondes, le

collier-récepteur se met en veille et il est

nécessaire de relâcher le bouton de stimulation

avant de pouvoir l'activer à nouveau.

Que dois-je faire

si le cou de mon

chien devient

rouge et irrité ?

Ce problème provient d'une irritation provoquée

par les contacteurs. Arrêtez d'utiliser le collier-

récepteur pendant quelques jours. Si l'irritation

persiste après 48 heures, consultez un vétérinaire.

Lorsque l'irritation a disparu, remettez-lui le

collier-récepteur et contrôlez de près sa peau.

Inschakelen van de ontvangerhalsband

Houdt de aan/uit knop ingedrukt tot de groene LED gaat branden en de 1. ontvangerhalsband van laag naar hoog piept.

Laat de aan/uit knop los. De groene LED zal om de 5 seconden knipperen tot 2. de ontvangerhalsband is uitgeschakeld. Het knipperende licht geeft aan dat de

ontvangerhalsband klaar is om het signaal van de afstandszender te ontvangen.

Als de ontvangerhalsband is ingeschakeld, drukt u op de knop linksboven 3. van de afstandszender. De ontvangerhalsband blijft piepen zolang de knop

linksboven ingedrukt blijft. Als dit niet gebeurt zie dan "afstandszender en

ontvangerhalsband paren". Opmerking: Schakel de ontvangerhalsband uit als

deze niet in gebruik is, om de levensduur van de batterij te verlengen.
