VERY IMPORTANT ADVICE
Normal use of your fan heaterin areas which have high levels of u, dust or hair (e.g.
bedrooms/dressing areas/hair salons) especially on solid/lino covered oors, will result
in the accumulation of these inside the heater at the back of the element. If left to
build up, it will eventually result in the safety cut-out operating to protect you and the
heater from the danger of the product overheating! It is therefore critical that you use
a vacuum cleaner to regularly blow out and clean any accumulation from the heater!
(See CLEANING section for detailed instructions)
Positioning the heater
Always ensure that the heater is stood on a rm, level base near to, but not directly
beneath, a suitable mains supply socket.
Ensure that curtains and furniture are not positioned close to the chosen position, as
this would create a potential re hazard.
See also ‘Important Safety Advice’.
Using the heater
The mains neon (see Fig. 1) will light up to show that the heater is connected to the
mains supply.
Heat control – see Fig. 2
The heat control positions are as follows:
O - O
- Cool Blow *
I - Half heat output
II - Full heat output
Thermostat control – see Fig. 3
The heat output is controlled by the thermostat, according to the room temperature.
Turn the knob to maximum setting initially. When the room is warm enough, reduce
the setting slowly until the heater just clicks o.
The heater will now cycle on and o to maintain your selected room temperature.
NOTE: If the heater does not come on when the thermostat is set to a low number, this is
normally because the room is warmer than the thermostat setting and is not a fault.
* When the heat control is set to
for Cool Blow, set the thermostat control to max.
position.
In accordance with room size, position
will turn the heater on and o to maintain
a temperature of approximately 5°C to help protect against frosty conditions.
Important Notes
Although this heater is manufactured to comply with the relevant safety standards,
certain types of carpets could become discoloured by the temperatures under a portable
heater. If you are concerned about this, we recommend that you contact the carpet
manufacturer for guidance. Alternatively, stand the heater on a suitable base to shield
the carpet – call our Helpline for further advice.
You may notice some parts of the element appearing to glow hotter or redder from
time to time because of the variable airow through the heater. This does not cause
a safety hazard.
The heat outlet grille may become discoloured with use – this is caused by airborne
pollution and is not a fault.
Safety – overheat protection
For your safety, this appliance is tted with a thermal cut-out. In the event that the
product overheats, the cut-out switches the heater o automatically. To bring the
heater back into operation, remove the cause of the overheating, then unplug or
turn o the electrical supply to the heater for a few minutes. When the heater has
cooled suciently, re-connect and switch on the heater.
Cleaning and User Maintenance
WARNING – ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE CLEANING THE
HEATER.
Allow the heater to cool, then wipe with a dry cloth to remove dust and a damp cloth
(not wet) to clean o stains. Be careful not to allow moisture into the heater.
To ensure continued normal operation of your heater, you must regularly clean out
any accumulation of particles from inside the heater! This is best achieved by using
your vacuum cleaner in Blow Mode to blow air into the heater through the front air
outlet to dislodge any accumulated matter from the back of the element (If it does not
have this function, then blowing hard yourself will have the same result). Then use the
vacuum in Suction Mode to suck out the loose particles through the top and bottom
air inlets. This will serve to clean these areas also. For normal surface cleaning, do not
use detergents, abrasive cleaning agents or polish of any kind on the heater. Wipe with
a dry cloth to remove dust and a damp (not wet) cloth to clean o stains. Be careful not
to allow moisture into the heater.
