check that thesaw chain is not in contact with any objects and can run freely. Evenabrief moment of inattention
can lead to thesaw chain fastening in anitem of clothing or abodypart.

ENGLISH
• Use protective eyewear and hearing protection. Protective equipment for hands, head, legs and feet are also
recommended. Wearing thecorrect type of safety clothing reduces therisk of personal injury from thesaw chain or
ying debris from thesawing.
• Never climb atree to operate thechainsaw. Usingachainsaw in atree can result in personal injury.
• Make sure that you stand on arm, level surface when you use thesaw. Slippery and unstable platforms such as
ladders can result in aloss of balance and loss of control over thesaw.
• Be prepared for branches under tension to spring back during thesawing process. Whenthetension in branches
isreleased they can spring back and strike chainsaw operators causing them to lose control of theirsaws.
• Be very careful when cutting brush and saplings. Thintwigs can get caught in thesaw chain and be projected
towards you or cause you to lose your balance.
• Always carry thechainsaw by thefront handle with theguide bar pointing away from yourbody. Thescabbard
must always be tted when thechainsaw is being transported or stored. Usingthechainsaw correctly will reduce
thelikelihood of contact with thesaw chain when it is in motion.
• Follow theinstructions regarding lubrication, chain tensioning and changing of accessories. Animproperly
tensioned or lubricated chain increases therisk of chain breakage or kickback.
• Always keep thehandles dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Slippery handles covered in oil can cause you to lose
control over thesaw.
• Cut woodonly. Thesaw is not designed for sawing plastic, hardboard or other building materials not made
ofwood. Usingthesaw to saw amaterial it was not designed to saw could lead to adangerous situation.
Causes and prevention of kickback
Kickback can occur when thetip of theguide bar contacts anobject or if thesaw cut closes and traps thechain.
If thetip of theguide bar touches anobject it can cause areaction which throws theguide bar back up towards theoperator.
Pinching thesaw chain along thetop of theguide bar may push theguide bar rapidly back towards theoperator.
All of these reactions may cause you to lose control of thesaw which could result in serious personal injury.
Do not rely solely on thesafety features tted to thesaw. Whenusing thesaw you yourself must take precautions to prevent
accidents and injuries. Kickback is caused either by poor maintenance, anincorrect sawing method or using thesaw for
thewrong purpose. Thiscan be avoided by following thefollowing safety precautions:
• If you understand what causes kickback therisk of being surprised and losing control will be reduced.
• Hold thesaw rmly with bothhands. Holdthesaw with your right hand on therear handle and your left hand on
thefront handle. Maintain arm grip with thumbs and ngers encircling thehandles and your arms and body
positioned in such away that you can resist kickback forces should they occur. You can control theforces arising
from akickback if thecorrect precautions aretaken. Neverlet go of thesaw when theengine is running.
• Make sure that thework area is free of obstacles. Neverlet thetip of theguide bar contact atree trunk, branch or
other object.
• Always saw using full throttle.
• Do not overreach and do not saw above shoulder height. Thiswill help you to prevent thetip of theguide bar from
accidentally coming into contact with objects and and cause you to lose control over thesaw if something unexpected should
happen.
• Follow themanufacturer’s instructions regarding sharpening and maintenance of thesawchain. Ablunt chain also
increases thelikelihood of kickback.
• Use only those replacement parts, guide bar and saw chain recommended by themanufacturer. Usingaguide bar
or saw chain of theincorrect type can lead to kickback or chain breakage.
WARNING: BEWARE OF KICKBACK!
Warning: Kickback poses aserious accident risk and can cause theoperator to lose control of thesaw.
Thiscan result in serious injury to theoperator and any bystanders. Bevigilant at alltimes.
Kickback caused by thenose or tip of theguide bar touching anobject or by thewood closing
and pinching thesaw chain in thecut is themain cause of chainsaw accidents.
