Getting started
General safety instructions
The Blueair 500/600 Series air purifier is an electrical appliance. Please
read the safety instructions before use and take the necessary precautions
to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury. The Blueair Limited
Warranty applies only if the unit is used according to these instructions.
• Use the grounded power cable provided with your Blueair unit. The plug
fits into a grounded outlet. Do not alter the plug in any way.
• Use the cable provided to plug the Blueair unit directly into an
appropriate electrical outlet (please refer to the voltage label on your
unit). The cable is packaged beneath the unit.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to
avoid a hazard.
Placement
Place the unit in a location that allows air to circulate freely in, out and
around the unit. The minimum acceptable distance from another object is
4" or 10 cm. Use only genuine Blueair filters. Do not place the unit:
Directly on or against soft furnishings, such as bedding or curtains.
Near sources of heat, such as radiators, fireplaces or ovens.
Near wet areas, such as bathrooms or laundry rooms, where it may come into
contact with water.
Outdoors.

Settings*
Plug the power cable firmly and completely into the recessed power cord
socket located at the bottom of the unit and plug the other end into a
grounded wall outlet or power strip. Turn on your Blueair unit. The blue
light-emitting diode indicates that the unit is working. Set the control knob
to maximum speed, which is recommended for fast initial cleaning, daytime
use, or very polluted air. After a few minutes, adjust the control to the desired
speed. Minimum speed is generally recommended for nighttime use.
* For Blueair E Series units (270E, 450E, 550E, 650E), please refer to the separate sheet included
with your unit for instructions on settings.

Care and maintenance
Blueair air purifiers feature high quality design, materials and work-
manship. To keep your unit in top condition, we recommend routine
cleaning. The appliance must be disconnected from the supply
mains before cleaning or maintenance.
• Vacuum the air intake grille from the inside when you remove the
filters to replace them.
• Vacuum the small inlets with a soft brush attachment.
• Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, clean, damp cloth.
• Never clean with gasoline, chemical solvents or corrosive material
also as these agents may damage the surface.
• Do not allow foreign objects to enter the ventilation or exhaust
openings. This may cause electric shock or damage the unit.
• Do not try to repair or adjust any of the electrical or mechanical
functions on your Blueair unit yourself. Contact your local dealer
or Blueair for warranty information.
How it works
Air passes through an ion chamber
where airborne particles are charged
with negative ions. Charged particles
are drawn to the HEPASilent™ filter
surface. Purified air, which is virtually
contaminant-free, is re-circulated into
the room.

Getting the most from
your Blueair system

The Blueair system is easy to use. Make sure your unit is the right size for
your room, and change the filters according to recommended filter replace-
ment schedule. Remember that, just as air conditioners and heaters have
limits to the volume of air they can cool or heat, every air purification system
has limits to the volume of air it can clean. Follow these common-sense
guidelines.
Close your windows
You wouldn’t throw open your windows on a hot summer day and expect
your air conditioner to work efficiently, because you can feel the hot air coming
in and the cool air going out. Even though you can’t see the contaminated
air coming in and the clean air going out, the same logic applies to your air
purifier.
Close your doors, too
Just as you might seal off part of your house on a cold winter night to keep
your heater working more efficiently, seal off the room in which your system
is working for best results. This is especially important for people using a
Blueair system to ease nighttime asthma or allergy attacks.
Run your system 24 hours per day
For best results, run your Blueair unit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Round-
the-clock operation ensures that a continuous supply of clean, filtered air
constantly circulates throughout the room. Blueair systems are designed
for phenomenally low power usage. In fact, it costs about the same to
power a Blueair air purifier as it does to power a single light bulb, depending
on the unit and the operating speed.

Filters
Patented HEPASilent™ technology makes the Blueair 500/600 Series
incredibly quiet. The unit comes with a complete set of three HEPASilent™
filters already installed.
Particle Filter Kit. Includes three particle filters that remove dust, pollen,
bacteria, pet dander, mold spores and other airborne particles. The particle
filter is made of polypropylene, which help mechanically filter out airborne
particles. To maximize filter effectiveness, particles are negatively charged
by the Blueair unit before reaching the filters.
Smokestop™ Filter Kit. Includes three filters with enhanced active carbon
to remove gaseous pollutants such as cigarette and cigar smoke or other
VOCs (volatile organic compounds, including household paints and other
chemicals). You may notice a slight odor from the enhanced active carbon
when the filter is first used; this will quickly dissipate.
For optimal performance, Blueair recommends that you replace filters
every six (6) months.
We offer a convenient Filter Subscription Program in some countries.
Contact your local dealer or Blueair to find out whether the program is
available to you.
IMPORTANT! Use only genuine Blueair filters to ensure proper function of
your unit and to qualify for full warranty coverage.

Instrucciones generales de seguridad
El purificador de aire Blueair serie 500/600 es un electrodoméstico. Lea las

Puesta en funcionamiento*
Enchufe el cable en un tomacorriente de pared con conexión a tierra y encienda
la unidad Blueair. El diodo emisor de luz indica que la unidad esté en funciona-
miento. Se recomienda colocar la perilla de control a la velocidad máxima para
realizar una limpieza inicial rápida, para usarlo durante el día o cuando el aire está
muy contaminado. Después de unos minutos, ajuste el control a la velocidad
deseada. Por lo general, se recomienda la velocidad mínima para usarlo durante
la noche.
* Si cuenta con una unidad Blueair serie E (270E, 450E, 550E, 650 E), consulte la hoja que se

Cuidado y mantenimiento
Los purificadores de aire Blueair cuentan con diseño, materiales y
mano de obra suecos y galardonados. Para mantener su unidad en
óptimas condiciones, le recomendamos que realice limpiezas de rutina.
El aparato debe ser desconectado de la red eléctrica antes de la limp-
ieza o mantenimiento.
• Cuando quite los filtros para reemplazarlos, limpie con una aspiradora
la rejilla de entrada del aire desde el interior.
• Utilice una aspiradora con accesorio de escobilla suave para limpiar
los orificios de entrada pequeños.
• Limpie el exterior de la unidad con un paño suave, limpio y húmedo.
• Nunca limpie la unidad con gasolina, solventes químicos o materiales
corrosivos, p12-ya que estas sustancias pueden dañar la superficie.
• No permita que objetos extraños se introduzcan en la ventilación o
en las aberturas de escape. Esto puede producir una descarga
eléctrica o puede dañar la unidad.
• No intente reparar ni ajustar por su cuenta ninguna de las funciones
eléctricas o mecánicas de su unidad Blueair. Comuníquese con su
distribuidor local o con Blueair para obtener información sobre la
garantía.
Funcionamiento
Los filtros retienen de manera eficaz las
partículas más grandes que están sus-
pendidas en el aire, p12-ya que el motor del
ventilador absorbe el aire dentro de la
unidad. El aire pasa a través de una
cámara ionizada donde las partículas
suspendidas en el aire reciben una
carga de iones negativos. Las partículas
cargadas son atraídas a la superficie
del filtro HEPASilent™. El aire purificado,
que casi no contiene contaminantes,

Cómo aprovechar al máximo
el sistema Blueair
El sistema Blueair es fácil de usar. Asegúrese de que su unidad sea del tamaño
adecuado a su habitación y reemplace los filtros según el cronograma recomen -
dado. Recuerde que, al igual que los equipos de aire acondicionado y los cale-
factores pueden enfriar o calentar volúmenes limitados de aire, cada sistema
purificador de aire puede purificar una cantidad limitada de aire. Siga las pautas
que se mencionan a continuación.
Cierre las ventanas
En el verano, no espere que su equipo de aire acondicionado funcione con
eficacia si las ventanas están abiertas, porque se puede sentir cómo entra el
aire caliente y sale el aire frío. Aunque no pueda ver cómo el aire contaminado
entra y sale de la habitación, la misma lógica se aplica a su purificador de aire.
Cierre las puertas también
De la misma manera que cierra una parte de su casa en una noche fría de
invierno para que los calefactores funcionen con más eficacia, para obtener
mejores resultados, cierre la habitación en la que esté funcionando el purificador
de aire. Esta práctica es muy importante para las personas que utilizan el sistema
Blueair para calmar los ataques de asma o alergia durante la noche.
Ponga en funcionamiento el sistema durante
las 24 horas
Para obtener los mejores resultados, haga que la unidad Blueair funcione todos
los días, durante las 24 horas. El funcionamiento ininterrumpido asegura que
una cantidad constante de aire limpio y filtrado circule de manera regular en
toda la habitación. Los sistemas Blueair están diseñados para consumir muy
poca energía. De hecho, el purificador de aire Blueair tiene aproximadamente
el mismo consumo de energía que un foco encendido, según la unidad y la
velocidad de funcionamiento.
