Operating a MIDI Device (MIDI Mode)
In MIDI mode, you can control electronic musical gear
(such as amps and eect units) or MIDI-compatible
devices like your smartphone or computer.
Instead of using a wireless connection, you can also
connect via cable to the MIDI OUT connector or USB
port.
You can use the dedicated app, “FS-1-WL Editor to
customize the settings.

Connecting to an Electronic Musical Instrument (Pairing)
1. Turn this unit on in MIDI mode.
2. Press the [Bluetooth] (INSTRUMENT) button.
The indicator blinks.
3. Connect your electronic musical instrument to the FS-1-WL via Bluetooth.
The indicator lights up when the connection has been established.

For details on how to connect, refer to the owner’s manual of your electronic musical
instrument.
Connecting with a Smartphone/Computer (Pairing)
1. Turn this unit on in MIDI mode.
2. Press the [Bluetooth] (Smartphone/PC) button.
The indicator blinks.
3. Connect the smartphone/computer and FS-1-WL from the application you want
to control.
The indicator lights up when the connection has been established.
Replacing the Batteries
Insert the batteries in the correct direction as shown in the illustration.
*To prevent this product from operating incorrectly or malfunctioning,
insert or replace the batteries before connecting this product to
another device.
*Use alkaline batteries if you are running the unit on battery power.
*When turning the unit over, handle the unit carefully; do not drop it.
*If you handle batteries improperly, you risk explosion and uid
leakage. Make sure that you carefully observe all of the items related to
batteries that are listed in “USING THE UNIT SAFELY and IMPORTANT
NOTES (leaet “USING THE UNIT SAFELY” and the Owners Manual).
Restoring the Factory Settings (Factory Reset)
1. Disconnect any cables that are plugged into the CTL1,2, EXP, USB or MIDI OUT
connectors and jacks.
2. Hold down the [Bluetooth] (Smartphone/PC) button to turn the power on and set
this unit to MIDI mode.
The POWER indicator blinks green, and the pedal indicator R blinks blue.
3. Press the pedal switch R.
This executes the factory reset.
The pedal indicator R blinks red while the factory reset is in progress.
*Do not turn o the power while the indicator is blinking red.

An Overview of the FS-1-WL
The FS-1-WL is a footswitch that can be used wirelessly.
• This unit lets you control apps on your smartphone or computer (such as apps for
turning pages, YouTube, DAWs and so on).
• You can also control electronic musical gear (such as amps and eect units) or
MIDI-compatible devices like your smartphone or computer.
Refer to the “FS-1-WL Connection Guide” for details on how to
connect this device to your smartphone/computer or to your
BOSS/Roland product.

Depress a pedal switch to control the connected device.
The pedal indicator lights up when the pedal switch is on.

POWER indicator
This indicator lights when the [POWER] switch is turned on.
Lit green There is sucient battery power.
Lit red The battery will be depleted in an hour.

[POWER] switch
Turns the power on/o.
MIDI The unit uses MIDI mode.
HID The unit uses HID mode.

DC IN jack
Connect an AC Adaptor (PSA series; sold separately) to this
jack.
* Use only the specied AC adaptor (PSA series; sold
separately), and connect it to an AC outlet of the correct
voltage.
* If the AC adaptor is connected while power is on, the power
supply is drawn from the AC adaptor.

CTL1, 2 jacks
Connect a footswitch (FS-5U, FS-6 or FS-7, sold separately) to
these jacks.
You can use a footswitch to control dierent MIDI/HID data
than the data you can control with the pedal switches.

EXP jack
Connect an expression pedal (such as a Roland EV-5; sold
separately).
This lets you control MIDI control change (CC) numbers from
this unit.
* Use only the specied expression pedal. Connecting
expression pedals made by third-party manufacturers may
cause this unit to malfunction.

MIDI OUT

Connect this to the MIDI IN connector of an external MIDI
device with a TRS/MIDI connecting cable (BMIDI-5-35, sold
separately).
* Do not use this connector for connecting to audio devices.
Doing so may cause a malfunction.

USB port
Use a commercially available USB cable to connect this unit to
the USB port on your computer.
This allows the FS-1-WL to operate as a USB MIDI device.
There is no need to install a driver.
* HID signals are not outputted.

Wirelessly Operating an App on Your Smartphone/Computer (HID Mode)
In HID mode, you can use this unit instead of a keyboard to control apps on your
smartphone or computer, such as apps for turning pages, YouTube, DAWs and so on.
You can select from three types of settings (memories) to operate the target device,
depending on the app you’re using.

Selecting a Memory
1. Press and hold down a pedal switch to turn the power on and set the unit to HID
mode.

1. Select a memory that’s appropriate for the app you’re using.
2. Turn this unit on in HID mode.
3. Press the [Bluetooth] (Smartphone/PC) button.
The indicator blinks.
4. Connect the FS-1-WL to your smartphone or computer from that device’s settings
screen.
The indicator lights up when the connection has been established.
Power Supply: Use of Batteries
• If operating this unit on batteries, please
use alkaline batteries.
• Even if batteries are installed, the unit
will turn o if you connect or disconnect
the power cord from the AC outlet while
the unit is turned on, or if you connect or
disconnect the AC adaptor from the unit.
You must turn o the power before you
connect or disconnect the power cord or
AC adaptor.
Repairs and Data
• Before sending the unit away for repairs,
be sure to write down the needed
information. Although we will do our
utmost to preserve the data stored in
your unit when we carry out repairs, in
some cases, such as when the memory
section is physically damaged, restoration
of the stored content may be impossible.

the restoration of any stored content that
has been lost.

• Any data stored within the unit can be
lost as the result of equipment failure,
incorrect operation, etc. To protect
yourself against the irretrievable loss of
